Top Moments: Castle's White Lie and The X Factor's Naked Truth

Our top moments of the week:

14. Best Blast from the Past: Six years after attempting to cheat on her on How I Met Your Mother, Ted gets the shock of his life when he spots Miss Buttercup herself, Victoria (Ashley Williams), catering the Architects Ball. We know canonically that Victoria's not the mother, but she was among our favorites of Ted's girlfriends (and he's had a lot), so it's nice to see her again, even if her only purpose is to restore the jaded romantic's faith in romance.

13. Best First Dance: Who knew moves like Jagger involves rooster chest-puffing and... read more

Cee Lo Green on Why He Turned Down The X Factor: It "Wasn't Distinctive Enough"

Cee Lo Green had the chance to join Simon Cowell on his highly anticipated singing competition series, The X Factor, but he said no. Instead, he joined NBC's rival, The Voice. Why did he turn down one of the most famous judges in reality TV history?

"I was unfamiliar with the concept of X Factor," Green told reporters Friday at NBC's Summer Press Day.  "I didn't see it as distinctive enough... read more

American Idol: The Worst Auditions Hall of Shame

The awful American Idol auditions we've come to know and love just seem to multiply like rabbits. There's a ginormous pool of non-talented wannabes to pull from on every audition round show. But, I think we hit a new level of "OMG" this past Wednesday night with our introduction to the obnoxious Brandon Black (dressed all in white, barf). He entered trying to be "funny" with some sort of unintelligible shtick, offended Paula (who we all know loves everyone), and then sang the worst "I'll Make Love to You" version we've ever heard. See for yourself on YouTubeSo, Mr. Black inspired us to dig up some of our favorite worst auditions. We're talking unlistenable stylings worthy of inducting into our newly formed "American Idol: Worst Auditions Hall of Shame." Let's take you through this year's inductees. — Erin Fox5) William Hung, "She Bangs" | Watch on YouTube While not the worst performance in Idol history, Hung's awkward "dance" moves and jutting hips combined with his circular ha... read more

Celebrity Duets: An Inside Look

You've seen them dance. You've seen them lose weight. You've even seen them ice-skate. Now it's time for celebrities to grab a mike and start singing. The contestants on Fox's Celebrity Duets will have a little help from well-known recording artists such as Clint Black, Macy Gray and Chaka Khan, so we're hoping the audience will be spared the torture of another William Hung. But with Simon Cowell wearing the executive-producer hat, anything is possible. The show (premiering Aug. 29) is hosted by Wayne Brady and features eight celebrity "nonsingers" — wrestling champion Chris Jericho, actress Lea Thompson, Queer Eye lifestyle expert Jai Rodriguez, Xena's Lucy Lawless, actor Cheech Marin, Olympian gymnast Carly Patterson, Fresh Prince's Alfonso Ribeiro and comedian Hal Sparks. The warbling wannabes will be competing for $100,000, to be donated to the read more

Ace Is Low on American Idol

Six weeks ago, if anyone had told you that Ace Young — he of the wavy hair, soulful eyes and "Father Figure" flourishes — wouldn't make the final four of Fox's American Idol (Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 pm/ET), you'd have thought them crazy like William Hung. The Denver native, though, confirmed the improbable when he crooned "That's All" for his final performance.

What went wrong for the cutie crooner? "I don't think anything went wrong," he says. "I think that on any given night, anything can happen."

Anything, indeed, as evidenced by who joined Ace in the bottom two — the competition's other (and read more
