Funny or Die founders Will Ferrell and Adam McKay by Eric Charbonneau/WireImage.com

Comedy website FunnyorDie.com is really bringing out the big guns to head up its new programming development deal with HBO. Twelve-year Saturday Night Live vet Andrew Steele will be joining the site as creative director, overseeing the unconventionally formatted content for the pay-cable network, as well as churning out the website's widely popular original videos ala "The Landlord" or "God Cop, Bad Baby."Funny or Die founders Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, who both worked with the SNL writer during their stints on the steadfast sketch-comedy series, told Variety that Steele was exactly who they were looking for to fill the position — especially since Ferrell finds him to be "one of the funniest people on the planet, not counting South America and parts of Russia." — Gina DiNunno read more

Meet the New Sherlock and Watson: Baron Cohen and Ferrell

It may be a stretch to picture the man who donned a neon man-kini as the dapper Sherlock Holmes but Sacha Baron Cohen is nothing if not malleable in his roles The brain behind Borat is set to play the fictional crime-solving legend and is teaming up with Will Ferrell as his partner Watson Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller the same team that first paired the actors in Talladega Nights will be producing the comedyCohen may not be making fun of anyone or even sipping Perrier this time around but its a mystery already just trying to envision such a wildly new take on the classic characters Will the flick be totally brilliant or too much of a reach Anna Dimond read more

Jon Stewart Interviews George Dubya (Will Ferrell)

Some of you may have caught Comedy Central's Night of Too Many Stars fundraising event for autism education over the weekend. But for those who didn't, we had to share one of the best bits of the evening (aside from Sarah Silverman's singing vagina, of course). The Daily Show's Jon Stewart was lucky enough to score an interview with George W. Bush (played by Will Ferrell)—but let's just say our fine president isn't holding back at all now that he's on the last leg of his term. Your take: Are you going to miss all the Dubya jokes come November? Or do you think all our comedic personalities will come up with the same caliber of spoofs for the next guy or gal? read more

How Saturday Night Live Hit a High in the '90s

Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri, Saturday Night Live

Despite stumbling through much of the 1980s, NBC's Saturday Night Live returned to its place as a comedic touchstone in the 1990s. The ratings and critical response at the time didn't always show it, but in retrospect it's hard to argue with the results. Revisit the roster of talent that passed through the halls of 30 Rockefeller Plaza during the decade and names like Chris Rock, Tina Fey, David Spade, Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell immediately jump out at you. Basinger or Ricky Bobby: Why'd Baldwin Drop CAA?

Alec Baldwin's abrupt decision to leave CAA for as-yet-to-be-determined pastures may have been fueled in part by a video spoof posted at FunnyOrDie.com, a website cocreated by another CAAer, Will Ferrell, and placing poor Dora the Explorer on the receiving end of his answering-machine harangue. "Baldwin asked CAA to take it off [the site], and they didn't," a source tells the New York Post's Page Six. Others, though, contend that Baldwin parted ways with the 10-percentery because they still pimp his ex-wife, Kim Basinger. Baldwin's rep quips about the video spoof, "Three-year-olds everywhere are upset that Dora... and her friends are being dragged into this." Or as Swiper would say, "Oh, man!" read more
