Wanda Sykes on The Wanda Sykes Show: No Celebs are Safe

Wanda Sykes

Not only is Wanda Sykes joining the predominately male landscape of late-night talk show hosts, her Fox show is kicking off when that landscape is getting a bit more crowded -- George Lopez's talkfest debuts two nights later on TBS and The Mo'Nique Show recently began on BET. Sykes, 45, doesn't seem to be worried about that, though; she's just excited to bring... read more

Is Bones coming back this fall? — Byerley
MATT: Well of course it is, on Thursday, Sept. 17. And if only because I had Eddie McClintock (now starring on SyFy's Warehouse 13) dropping by for a video Q&A, I reached out to Bones boss Hart Hanson to see if Eddie's Special Agent Tim Sullivan might ever reenter Temp's life. "We've always thought he might return one day, dead or alive. I prefer alive, actually," Hanson told the Buzz. McClintock in turn told me, "I had such a great time with Emily [Deschanel] and David [Boreanaz], so for Hart to say that makes me happy. I would love to [do Bones again]." Hmm, W13 did just wrap production on Season 1....

VIDEO: Wanda Sykes Gets Grief for Rush Limbaugh Joke

Wanda Sykes

New Adventures of Old Christine star Wanda Sykes let loose at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on Saturday night — but did saying that she wished that Rush Limbaugh's kidneys would fail cross a line?

"Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails," Sykes said during her routine. "So you're saying, 'I hope America fails.' You're like, 'I don't care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq.' He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason. He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on ... read more

Critics' Notebook: Worst Show of the Century?

Justin Bruening and Deanna Russo in Knight Rider by Mitchell Haaseth/NBC Photo

Here we are at "hump night" of the first week of the official TV season. Or, given that NBC is giving us a line-up of the atrocious Knight Rider, the dishonestly monikered America's Got Talent and the turgid Lipstick Jungle, maybe we should rechristen Wednesdays "lump night."

Can you please explain to me ...

Question: Can you please explain to me why Two and a Half Men garnered as many Emmy nods as it did? I tried watching an episode and couldn't even make it through the full 30 minutes! I mean no offense to Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, Holland Taylor or Conchata Ferrell, but are we supposed to believe that all four turned in Emmy-worthy performances? I can see why the show has viewers (it's an easy, no-thinking-required program), but all the Emmy attention has me totally perplexed. The show is like macaroni and cheese: comforting and dependable, but you don't give it a gold ribbon. I guess I'm lashing out because Gilmore Girls was consistently ignored, while shows I see as dreck receive accolades. So, Matt, if you could please enlighten me about this issue, I'd really appreciate it — it's just not healthy to be this angry about a TV show. Answer: This one doesn't bother me so much. I think there should be room on the list for at least one traditionally produced comedy (as in: filmed ... read more

"Oleander" and Downtime

In this episode titled "Oleander," we gather for a meal at one of the hottest new eateries in L.A. The food is great, and the people are very cool. I love doing the group restaurant scenes because you get a nice taste — pardon the pun — of each of the characters and how they all relate to each other. Plus, when we’re not rolling we get to catch up and try our best to crack each other up. Melanie Paxson gets the award for the best, most embarrassing story. It didn’t happen to her but to a friend of hers, and it took our breath away. All I can say is, it involved a girl, a guy and a city. Sad that I can’t go into detail, but I fear Melanie might sue me. This is the thing about blogging... I start to write just for myself and then I realize millions of people are reading my blog. Millions! And I need to be really careful about what I write. It’s very precious. I worked on Evan Almighty last summer and I loved when we were shooting, but I also loved when we... read more
