Critic's Guide to Wednesday's TV: CMAs vs. X Factor and a Ripper Anniversary

Noticeably lacking in the ranks of The X Factor's contestants: budding country music stars. (Maybe they didn't want to risk another Scotty McCreery-style steamroller upstaging upstarts like "Astro.") And now, as the Top 11 square off, Fox's overblown singing contest (8/7c) faces its toughest competition to date: another musical extravaganza, ABC's three-hour broadcast of The 45^th Annual CMA Awards (8/7c) from Nashville, with Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley co-hosting for the fourth year in a row. (They'll perform their hit "Remind Me" during the show.)

Miranda Lambert Wins Big at CMA Awards; Gwyneth Paltrow Gets Standing Ovation

Birthday girl Miranda Lambert was the big winner at the 44th Annual CMA Awards, while Gwyneth Paltrow brought country fans to their feet in her debut performance.

Lambert, who turned 27 Wednesday, walked away with four awards including album of the year for Revolution and female vocalist of the year. She also won song of the year and music video of the year, both for "The House That Built Me." Lambert's fiancé, Blake Shelton, took home male vocalist of the year.

Gwyneth Paltrow to Sing on Country Music Awards

Ke$ha, Taylor Swift Announce Support for Nashville Flood Victims

Ke$ha and Taylor Swift are among the stars showing their support for flood victims in Nashville.

Ke$ha, the "Tik Tok" singer whose hometown is Nashville, will host a benefit concert in June, according to E! Online.

"One hundred percent of the profits from ticket sales will go to help the victims of these devastating floods," Ke$ha told E! in a statement. "Nashville helped shape me as an artist and as a person and my love for this city is beyond words. I will continue to do anything I can to help rebuild this city and support the families and animals who have been affected by this tragedy."
