Monday Review: The Return of 24 and Louie

A day in the life of Jack Bauer would go so much easier if anyone would just listen to him when he barks commands like, "Stop that couple!" Fat chance when what seems like half the armed personnel of the CIA's London bureau have guns pointed at the good guy instead of the fleeing bad guys.

Will they never learn? Apparently not. Which is no doubt exactly the desire of the fans who've been waiting four long years — that's roughly 35,064 hours in real time — for 24, one of TV's most electrifying thrillers, and Kiefer Sutherland as its beleaguered yet seemingly indestructible hero to snap back into action. The novelty — and thus, a bit of the edge — is gone as Fox's 12-part 24: Live Another Day seeks to prove that less is more, slowly revving up the comfortably formulaic engine while visceral split-screen editing once again intensifies the literally explosive twists. And yet, because a sad, mad, badass Jack Bauer is the only Jack we've ever known, there's something grimly satisfying when he mutters bleakly to one of his few allies, "I don't have any friends."

Bates Motel Finale: Will the Truth About Norman Finally Come Out?

Now that Norman Bates knows the truth about his murderous ways, how much longer can it be kept a secret?

On the penultimate episode of Bates Motel's second season, Norman (Freddie Highmore) was kidnapped and stuffed in a box for hours. The traumatizing time alone allowed Norman's repressed memories of murdering Miss Watson to come to the surface. "This was a huge chunk of reality for Norman Bates, who just doesn't have an awareness of this part of himself," executive producer Kerry Ehrin says... read more

Bates Motel: What's Next for Dylan After the Daddy Bombshell?

Norma's going to have some explaining to do on Monday's episode of Bates Motel.

The previous episode ended with a huge confrontation between Norma (Vera Farmiga) and her oldest son Dylan (Max Thieriot), who was furious that Norma wouldn't give her estranged brother Caleb (guest star Kenny Johnson) a second chance. When Norma tried to explain that Caleb raped her repeatedly as a child, Dylan flew off the handle and called Norma a liar, which led to a brawl between Dylan and his half-brother Norman (Freddie Highmore). As the fight escalated, Norma was forced to drop a major bombshell... read more

Bates Motel Reopens for "Super-Intense" Second Season

It's gonna be a bright, sunshine-y day on Season 2 of Bates Motel — at least temporarily.

When the second season of the A&E drama kicks off (Monday, 9/8c, A&E), four months have passed. It's summer in White Pine Bay and Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) can't hold back the smile that comes from having her motel completely booked. But there's one cloud that Norma just can't shed: Norman (Freddie Highmore) remains fixated on the death of his teacher Miss Watson, whose grave he visits far too often for Norma's liking.

Winter TV: Check out all the must-see new shows

Of course,  all signs in the Season 1 finale suggested it was Norman, distraught from a terrible night at a school dance and vulnerable after being shown affection by Miss Watson, is responsible for his dear teacher's death. Or is he?

"The story of what happened to Miss Watson is very much, at this point, a story of perception," executive producer Kerry Ehrin tells TVGuide.com. "We saw [everything] through Norman's point of view at the end of the last season, and this season, we unravel that.... read more

Monday Review: A&E's Kill-er Women, Mom, Human Finale, Castle, Jeopardy!

A&E certainly has an eye for talent, with the brooding Chloë Sevigny joining the electrifying Vera Farmiga in back-to-back Monday psycho- (or Psycho) dramas. Unfortunately, the former Big Love scene-stealer is not nearly as well served by the unpleasant formula dreariness of Those Who Kill (10/9c), an adaptation of a Danish series that takes a by-the-numbers approach to some truly ghastly serial-killer action.
