by Ben KatnerCan't say I was stunned that America's Next Top Model (Wednesdays, 8 pm/ET, CW) didn't keep 20-year-old Yale scholar Victoria Marshman to the end. As bright as she is, and as appealingly vulnerable as she was in photos, she freely admitted that only recently had it occurred to her to make a career of sitting around and looking pretty which, in Tyra Banks' estimation, puts her on par with, say, Satan. She also did the unthinkable and snapped at dear, sweet Twiggy repeatedly. What was up with that? To find out, TVGuide.com gave her a call and dove in
cautiously.TVGuide.com: How scared should I be to be interviewing you?Victoria Marshman: Why would you feel scared? I'm, like, the least intimidating person ever!TVGuide.com: Come on, if you'd go after Twiggy, you'd go after anyone!Victoria: [Laughs] No, no, no. See, nobody's editing this interview, so it won't appear that I'm attacking you...read more

Episode Recap: "The Girl Who Goes Bald" This week's recap by Ben KatnerWow, my first time subbing as TVGuide.com's America's Next Top Model recapper, and I get makeover week. Scary. Be gentle with me, people. The episode starts out with Victoria saying for the umpteenth time that it didn't occur to her until recently that modeling might be a kick in the smarty-pants, and I'm not buying it. I mean, if she'd ever even considered trying out for this show, she'd have known that the wannabes, not to mention Miss Tyra, have major hate-ons for girls who don't sob openly about how walking down a runway in clothes you'd never see anyone wear on the street has been their dream since they were in utero.Meanwhile, Saleisha clearly forgetting that once you say you won't you most certainly will announces that she's not ever going to be in the bottom two. But in her favor, she does sob openly about her aspiration to pose for pretty pictures for the rest of her life. More on that...

One of the weirdest TV weeks ever continued Wednesday as reality TV continued to get it right, with American Idol finally kicking the ridiculously out-of-his-depth Sanjaya Malakar to the curb. But does this leave Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell something — anything — to talk or argue about?Meanwhile, in the actual real world, the horrific saga of the Virginia Tech shootings took yet another surreal turn when NBC revealed and analyzed on air the existence of a disturbing package of video, text and photos sent by the shooter on the day of the killings. Unimaginably, he went to the post office between sprees to mail his deranged manifesto to the media in a final bid for media immortality. (I have decided not to name the shooter here, in a personal bid to deny him, at least in this space, that publicity.) This package of angry rants and deadly poses, resembling a nightmare vision out of Taxi Driver, is without question legitimate news, and its contents will be devoured on air...

I knew it was too good to last. America's Next Top Model finally had not one but two real women among its walking hangers, and on top of that they were both articulate and self-aware. So of course, according to the laws of reality television, one of them had to go. Unfortunately for Diana Zalewski, she was the one. But though she's out, don't call her down. If anything, the savvy 21-year-old Jersey girl is way more charming than she even got a chance to be on screen. While you butter your popcorn before tonight's episode (airing at 8 pm/ET on the CW), listen in as I check up on the latest knockout to be KO'd by Tyra Banks.TVGuide.com: I hate to ask this, but I kinda have to: After you were eliminated, how many times have you gone back to that moment when M
