After 10 seasons of The Bachelor and three seasons of The Bachelorette, Chris Harrison informed us tonight that only four couples are still together. In addition to our newest couple, Charlie and Sarah are happily living together in Los Angeles; Byron and Mary are cozy in Texas and will wed in the fall; while Trista and Ryan have been married for four years and are expecting a little one at the end of the summer. And on a bittersweet note, my favorite bachelor of all time, Andrew Firestone, recently proposed to his girlfriend, which sadly means he is once again off the market. In years past, the reunion show meant we got to see all of the ladies one last time, as they rehashed their feelings with one another and fired uncomfortable questions at the bachelor. Tonight's gathering was much smaller and much more subdued, as we were only privy to seeing five of the original 25 women from this season. Where's Ryan Sutter been since he and Trista Rehn were reportedly paid $1 million to marry on prime-time TV? Unlike his Bachelorette runner-up, Charlie, he's not clinging to showbiz for dear life. The newlyweds moved to Sutter's hometown of Vail, Colorado, where he still writes poetry and works as a firefighter/EMT. He's also training for the Iron Man Triathlon World Championship taking place this fall in Hawaii, where he aims to raise cash for the Firefighters' National Trust.
"I love the job I have," he says. "People assume that if you go on reality television, you automatically are cast into this celebrity role and it's a springboard into the entertainment industry. It really isn't. We're not actors, we're just normal people."
Tell that to stunned fans who can't get over "Trista's Ryan" answering their 911 calls! "They think I'm filthy rich and I don't need to work," he says. "They have a lot of misconceptions." Like that he's free tread more
