The Voice Team Sounds Off on the Steal: "This Is a Second Chance for People"

The Voice

American Idol singer Frenchie Davis. Mickey Mouse Club member Tony Lucca. The Voice has always been about giving talented singers a second chance at fame. Now, the show is giving its singers another second chance with a twist that could shake the game up in a big way: the Steal.

In the battle rounds, which kick off Monday at 8/7c on NBC, the coaches will have the opportunity to press their buttons once again — this time to steal a singer from another coach after that singer has lost their battle. "I have to say as a naturalized American, what the country is all about is second chances. And this is a second chance for people," executive producer Mark Burnett tells TVGuide.com. "When they hit those buttons and the lights come on, it's like, 'Wow!' I've been doing this long enough that I know when I see something magical happen."

TVGuide.com Smackdown: Will The Voice or The X Factor Prevail?

Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera

Which singing show will reign supreme this fall?

NBC's The Voice threw down the gauntlet when it expanded its planned two-night Monday-Tuesday premiere to a third night on Wednesday, which puts it head-to-head with the first night of The X Factor's two-night premiere. In response, X Factor creator and judge Simon Cowell deemed the move as "cold-hearted" and... read more

Watercooler: Did The Voice Leave You Speechless?

Tony Lucca

Wait...what?

Chris Mann came in fourth? Tony Lucca was third? Oh America, did you not understand The Voice's voting rules? They were supposed to be the top 2, not the bottom pair. Then again, Juliet Simms and her screech were never supposed to make the finals, much less the runner-up spot. Not that winner Jermaine Paul isn't a fine enough singer. Nice range, nice looking...and no edge. Nothing like the dynamic Mann, opera's hotter Ben Stiller who devastated us with Monday's cover of Josh Groban's "You Lift Me Up," or Lucca, the gifted crooner Christina Aguilera hates more than wearing clothes that fit.

The Voice

Well you voted, America. And then The Voice threw in some attempt at math and we got last night's eliminations. But did we get it right?

Watercooler: The Voice's In-Your-Face Moment

Tony Lucca

Oh snap, Tony Lucca. That was just perfect.

After taking a jab last week for scoring some Twitter support from his Mickey Mouse Club pal Justin Timberlake by fellow Mouse House vet Christina Aguilera, The Voice's handsome troubadour wannabe took the quarter-finals stage last night and did what any self-respecting artist would do: He covered another famed MMC alum, Britney Spears.

Is It Just Me: Burning Questions from The Voice

Christina Aguilera

Why does Christina Aguilera look so different?
You might say that Aguilera is becoming less of a diva. During the live episodes airing now, the Voice coach has been showing off a svelter figure and a streamlined wardrobe, hair and makeup to match. NYC-based exercise physiologist Johanna Pryluck, who does not work with the star, says it appears that Aguilera has dropped around 25 pounds since the audition and battle rounds that were taped last winter. "There's a big difference in her overall tone, but especially in her arms and face," says Pryluck, who attributes the change to a likely program of "vigorous cardio four to fives times a week plus strength training and a diet of lean protein, whole grains and as little processed food as possible." Matt's TV Week in Review

Matt Bomer and Darren Criss

I'm trying to come to grips with the knowledge that Steven Tyler and I have something in common. Namely, a mini-obsession with Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," a song that after this week in TV I can't get out of my head. read more

The Voice: Tony Lucca on His MMC Memories and Adam Levine's Special Brand of Mojo

Tony Lucca

This is how confident we were that Tony Lucca would advance through this week's battle rounds on The Voice: We got a hold of him Monday morning — just as he'd completed a weekend performing on a rock cruise — to ask him if his missing facial hair would make a comeback in subsequent episodes, what really happened after Christina Aguilera failed to recognize her former fellow Mouseketeer ("Wake up," Christina!), and whether or not coach Adam Levine is actually a loveable, cocky rock star (or just a cocky rock star) when the cameras aren't rolling.

And, of course we grilled him all about MMC (that's Mickey Mouse Club for those who didn't grow up in the 90s), from dating Keri Russell and making Britney Spears swoon, to his affection for the soap-within-the-show Emerald Cove. In our minds, there's no doubt that it was the Mouse Club faithful that helped send "Tony Lucca" trending on Twitter immediately after he appeared on The Voice's second season premiere. (And — spoiler alert — we were read more

Matt's TV Week in Review

Modern Family

Let's start this week's roundup by blowing some Valentine's kisses to ABC's Wednesday night lineup. No tongue, and not on the mouth, because that would be rude! But also very funny, as evidenced on the night's standout comedies The Middle and Modern Family, in which Sue Heck freaks when her wrestler boyfriend Matt gets "international" with his tongue-wrestling and Claire Dunphy is seriously skeeved out by Greg Kinnear (a hoot as Phil's wealthy new client) as he plants kisses right on her mouth, while shirking an oblivious Phil's hugs. Turns out he kisses ...
