Question: I love Game of Thrones. I think it is so ambitious, unique, well-acted and produced. My one issue is the time allotted for the ever-engrossing and expanding cast. If they follow the books at all, the cast would grow even more. How successful does a show have to be for HBO to consider making either more episodes per season or having longer episodes per season? It's not network TV so they don't have commercial considerations to fight against. Every year and week anymore, it seems like GOT is breaking some record in viewers. Always the most pirated show. Don't have a clue about DVD sales. Just seems to me that we are starting to and will continue to lose something from this show by only getting five minutes with each character. It's like by the time I'm really enjoying it, the episode is ending. Is adding to episode orders or time something that is possible or discussed? Would be such a shame if they didn't continue on a brilliant adaptation. And I would think this show makes HBO money and a lot of it. If it didn't, I would understand how my idea would be the stuff of grumpkins. — Trenton

Meet Arrow's Stephen Amell, The CW's Hot New Superhero

There's nothing super about Stephen Amell.

That is to say, he doesn't have X-ray vision, super strength or the ability to fly, and yet on Wednesday night, he'll have the power to captivate an audience of comic book aficionados and salivating fangirls alike when he debuts as the star of Arrow — and for The CW, that's one hell of a superpower.

Like Smallville's Tom Welling before him, the 31-year-old Canadian actor is about to fill some large shoes by bringing one of DC Comics' Justice League members to life. For Amell, it's the Green Arrow, a superhero without the super.

Arrow Bosses: We're taking the super out of superhero

Amell plays Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy who survives a boating accident that leaves him stranded on a deserted island for five years. While there, he hones his archery skills to survive, birthing his alter ego, Arrow. Upon his return, he'll have his work cut out for him as he attempts to clean up Starling City (yes, it's not called Star City) and right his family's wrongs.

In that same vein, Amell has his work cut out for him, following in the footsteps of Justin Hartley, who recently portrayed the Green Arrow on Smallville. But Amell insists that there will be few, if any, similarities to that other CW superhero series. Below, Amell shares his thoughts on taking on the role and what's in store for DC Comics fans and newbies alike: read more

Smallville Bosses Shape a New Breed of "Superman" in Beauty and the Beast

He may not be Clark Kent, but Beauty and the Beast's titular beast is another form of Superman — especially considering Smallville bosses Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson are helping to shape him.

Beauty and the Beast bosses defend beast's beauty

In The CW's Beauty and the Beast remake, from Jennifer Levin and Sherri CooperJay Ryan stars as Vincent Keller, a doctor-turned-soldier who was transformed into a beast after a faulty military medical experiment. Smallville alum Kristin Kreuk plays his beauty, Catherine Chandler, a cop who's driven by revenge after the her mother's death, which was possibly connected to the shady company behind Vincent's accident.

CW's Arrow Will Easily Set Itself Apart from Smallville

It's only been a year since Justin Hartley fought villains alongside Smallville's Tom Welling as Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow. But the CW is ready to introduce a new Oliver Queen on Arrow, a new fall drama.

In CW's version... read more

12 Things Arrow Can Learn From Smallville, Buffy and More!

Get ready for another superhero series!

This fall on The CW's Arrow, fans will get to follow the exploits of DC Comics' Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), a playboy who spent five years on a deserted island after a horrific boating accident. The prodigal son will return home and use the alias Green Arrow, a superhero who's super handy with a bow and arrow, to save his precious Star City from the criminals who lie in wait. Arrow has all the trademarks of a great superhero series, including a lost love — Katie Cassidy as Dinah "Laurel" Lance — and the loss of a, spoiler alert, parental figure.

VIDEO: Check out a first look at Arrow

With the premiere of Arrow, The CW has the chance to once again be the home to a long-running superhero series that will not only attract Smallville followers, but also comic book aficionados and fanboys — and even fangirls! — alike. But — and this is a big but — the writers behind Arrow need to adhere to certain rules in hero series as to not make the same mistakes of the past. Therefore, we've created a list of things that Arrow should and shouldn't do in order to be successful based on tried-and-true heroic formats: read more
