When the editor of the Yale student newspaper tells Rory that her articles are dull, she writes a scathing review of the Yale ballet and becomes the vindictive lead ballerina's target. Jason impresses Lorelai by manipulating Emily into inviting him to Friday night dinner so he can continue flirting with Lorelai. Meanwhile, surprised to see Nicole (recurring guest star TRICIA O'KELLEY) at the diner, Lorelai forces Luke to admit that he and Nicole have put their divorce on hold and are dating again. Norm's excitement to work painting Frasier and Lilith's living room dampens when he discovers that Frasier is a frustrated home-improvement junkie. Frasier constantly supervises Norm's work, offering handy hints he learned watching 'This Old House. 'Norm tolerates it up until Frasier demands that he stand on the dangerously high top step of a ladder. When Norm refuses, Frasier pushes him out of the way and scrambles to the top to paint the ceiling himself. Unfortunately, the do-it-yourselfer falls and lands on top of Norm. As a result of the accident, Norm has a bruised disk and his doctor advises him not to aggravate the injury by moving. Since Vera is out of town, a guilty Frasier suggests that he and Lilith take care of him until she returns. Lilith reluctantly agrees, and Norm assumes a permanent prone position on the Crane's couch. His recuperation drags on for days, and soon Lilith is waiting on Norm hand and foot. When the Cheers' regulars leave the bar and congregate with Norm in her living room, Lilith realizes she must take a stand or lose her chintz couch and oriental rugs forever. Receiving an unexpected call from her psychic Madame Lazora (guest star Georgia Brown), Carla is instantly worried that the woman will predict plague and pestilence for the Tortelli clan. Instead, however, Lazora tells her she is retiring to Florida and has chosen Carla to replace her for a 50% cut of the profits. Lazora claims that Princess Katya, her 17th century spirit guide, picked Carla as 'The One' because of her psychic gifts. Excited, Carla begins her life as a psychic by trying to read Sam's mind. She comes up with a beautiful portrait of his life as a child, but Sam has to tell her that it was nothing like his actual childhood. Feeling like a failure, Carla tells Lazora she doesn't have 'It'. Just as Lazora is about to revoke her spiritual job offer, Carla becomes possessed by Princess Katya's spirit. Later, Carla confesses it was all a hoax and seeks Lazora's forgiveness. But Lazora has her own confession--she's always been a fraud. Carla storms out of Lazora's parlor feeling stupid and betrayed after years of relying on the woman's advice. Later, Carla deems that maybe she has some psychic power and figures it's a great way to make some cash on the side. Meanwhile, Woody receives a poor review when he stars in a local production of 'Arsenic and Old Lace'.
