Tom DeLay Fast Facts:

Spent his childhood in South America where his father worked with petroleum and natural gases.
After college, he was employed at a pesticide company before opening his own extermination business.
Began his political career in the Texas Legislature in 1978.
Elected to the 22nd District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1984.
Stepped down from the post of House Majority Leader (which he held from 2002 to 2005) amid allegations of questionable campaign finance activity.
Resigned from Congress in 2006.
Co-wrote the 2006 best-seller No Retreat, No Surrender: One American's Fight.
A champion of child welfare issues, he and his wife started a residential community for foster kids called Rio Bend.
Participated in the ninth season of the ABC series Dancing with the Stars, partnered with two-time champion Cheryl Burke.
