Leah Remini Readies for King of Queens' Royal Send-off

Leah Remini, The King of Queens

Funny lady Leah Remini speaks candidly about her friends Tom and Katie, her diet tips, and moving on from CBS' The King of Queens (Mondays at 9:30 pm/ET). TV Guide: After playing Carrie Heffernan on The King of Queens for nine seasons, you're coming down to the wire with next month's series finale. How does it feel? Remini: Awful. It's a cliché, but you just don't know what you have until it's gone. Kevin [James] and I have both had babies on the show. We've lost weight. We've gained weight. Just look at everything we've gone through. Nine years is a big chunk of your life. It's been my first real success, and you can't read more

Love Notes: Brangelina and TomKat Updates

New details on Angelina's latest acquisition: According to the AP, Jolie plans to adopt from Vietnam a 3- to 4-year-old boy whom she picked out during a recent visit to the Tam Binh orphanage. The boy will move to the United States with her in no more than three months. Over in the country of TomKat, meanwhile, the New York Post's Page Six hears that Cruise has informed the producers of Kate's new film, Mad Money, that "he will be on set every day" — but only to "observe" and not stare down any manly leading men, seeing as the female heist comedy costars Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton. (The talk is that Holmes bailed on the Batman Begins sequel because of intimate scenes she would have had with Christian Bale, and that Cruise was responsible for Kate's sex scene "mysteriously vanishing" from festival screenings of Thank You for Smoking.) read more

December 12, 2006: Whoopee!

Here's a rerun you didn't want to miss. I am tempted to go off on Luke for his horrendous comments when he ran into Lorelai on the street: "It's not as big a deal for me as it is for you. So we're not getting married. It's fine by me. You're the one who proposed in the first place." Ouch! But you know what? Enough agita. I'd rather talk about Lane and Zack, Stars Hollow's best couple. Naturally Pedro's Paradise turned out to be anything but... the poor couple spent their Mexican honeymoon in Pedro's dirty apartment, nowhere near the beach, overlooking an ad for Mexican nasal spray (of all things). I'm surprised a control freak like Lane actually let Zack plan the honeymoon in the first place, but we'll let that one slide. If that's not bad enough, Lane is convinced that her mother was right about sex all along, "that women are maintaining this pervasive media-supported charade, that sex is normal, that sex is wonderful, that sex is sexy." You too would think sex was pretty awful if ... read more

Poll: Mel Is Still Beloved, Tom Cruise Still Bewilders

Further proof that people are just plain weird: In a new Gallup poll, only 12 percent of respondents said they would go out of their way to see Tom Cruise movies now, while 26 percent said they'd go the extra mile to catch a Mel Gibson flick. Furthermore, 34 percent said they wouldn't see a Cruise pic period, while only 15 percent have sworn off Gibson. Elsewhere on the chart, the far-less-controversial Tom Hanks and Reese Witherspoon were ranked our favorite actor and actress. No doubt my personal faves, Mark Feuerstein and Judy Greer, were right behind them. read more

TomKat Gives Village Never-ending Kiss-off

While those who actually attended the Saturday wedding between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have had the image of the nuptials-ending (and quickly coined) "never-ending kiss" between man and wife burned into their retinas, residents of the lakeside town of Bracciano, Italy, are grumbling that they didn’t see the famed fawners at all, even though their Odescalchi Castle hosted the event. "I'm really disappointed," Reuters quotes one villager as saying. "It would have been fair to say at least a little hello from far away." In fact, one local paper on Sunday bore the headline: "Tom and Katie: The Invisible Newlyweds." And on that note, we all moved to Bracciano. read more

TomKat Wedding Snubs Oprah, But Not Brooke

Since his last appearance on her talk show nearly ruined his career (not to mention a perfectly good sofa), it isn't surprising that Tom Cruise chose not to ask Oprah Winfrey to attend his and Katie Holmes' Saturday wedding. "It's not that I'm not going," Oprah spins it for Extra. "It's that they had a limited number of people that they could invite. [But] that's fine. I don't get invited to everyone's wedding, [and] I don't invite [Tom and Katie] to everything I do." Adding insult to injury, the New York Post reports that Brooke Shields, of all people, made the cut! In further nuptial news, while Liz Smith whispers that there will be no media at the event, the groom's flack assures her, "That isn't to say that it won't be covered — pictures and stories will appear, but none of [the coverage] will be sold, for charity or otherwise." read more

At the Movies: "Out of Africa 2: Afghani Boogaloo"

Speaking of the future Mr. Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise is thisclose to making his first purchase as co-owner of United Artists, says the Hollywood Reporter. And the winner is... Lions for Lambs, a drama set in Afghanistan that would star Cruise (duh) and Out of Africa leads Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. Redford is also set to direct, meaning there's a 50/50 chance he got invited to the wedding.... Per Variety, MGM expects to begin production on new installments of its James Bond, Pink Panther and The Thomas Crown Affair franchises in 2007.... Beach Boy Brian Wilson has made a deal with producer Mark Gordon to tell his life story in a feature film. read more
