Directed by Mark Neale, Faster revolves around a world as competitive as it is dangerous: championship motorcycle racing. Filmed throughout the 2001 and 2002 seasons, the documentary delves into the 16 races held annually; these competitions culminate in the naming of a single champion. Like most extreme sports documentaries, Faster has more than its share of thrills, spills, crashes, slide-outs, and flips. The footage is supplemented, however, by interviews with racers including Australian veteran Garry McCoy, who had a titanium rod put in his leg only to crash shortly afterwards; the now-paralyzed former racer Wayne Rainey; hotshot American newcomer John Hopkins; and Italian rivals Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi. Managers, mechanics, and doctors also offer insight regarding what makes championship motorcycle tournaments tick, and the borderline obsessive dedication needed to persevere within the sport.
A stint in prison usually has one of two effects on a man – it either breaks him down or makes him stronger. For Driver (Dwayne Johnson), a 10-year sentence proved the latter. His strength was not just fueled by time, but also by a hunger to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his own imprisonment. Untouchable on the ‘inside,’ he made plenty of enemies in prison - men who were counting the days until his release so they could exact their own revenge on the outside. Now, on the day of his release, he is hell-bent on reaping vengeance upon the four men responsible for his brother’s murder. With a list of names and addresses in hand, he sprints out of the prison gates and is immediately on his mission.
In Faster!, a badass female bike messenger runs roughshod over everyone in her path in a desperate struggle to get ahead.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays a thief who steals corporate secrets from sleeping minds. Now he must be the first to pull off the reverse: planting an idea in exchange for his freedom.
After 10 years in prison, Driver (Dwayne Johnson) is now a free man with a single focus; hunting down the people responsible for brutally murdering his brother.
