Ray feels that he has failed by not protecting Mickey and offers a large reward for information about the hit and run driver who caused the accident but is not prepared when he finds the truth. The annual Ewing barbecue ends in turbulence. J.R. pulls the dirtiest trick yet in his fight with Bobby for Ewing Oil, which angers the cartel and frustrates the new oil commission. When the barbecue is used as a battlefield for the opposing factions, the fracas unites the Ewings against the other oilmen.
