Tiki Previews Tonight's Giants Game — and Sets the Record Straight

When the New York Giants' star running back and biggest play-maker Tiki Barber announced that he was going to retire after the 2006 season — during the 2006 season — there were plenty of questions about his dedication to the sport and his team. All of which blew up out of control when Barber's book Tiki: My Life in the Game and Beyond was published in September. In it, he spoke frankly about Giants coach Tom Coughlin and quarterback Eli Manning. Now the guy with the photogenic smile is a correspondent for Today and a commentator on Football Night in America (tonight at 7 pm/ET, NBC, followed immediately by the Giants vs. the Washington Redskins game) — and he's setting the record straight on his Project Runway appearance, read more

Tiki Barber: "The Giants Can Go to the Super Bowl"

Just in time for the New York Giants' game against the Washington Redskins this week (Dec. 16, 8:15 pm/ET, NBC), former star running back — and current Football Night in America commentator — Tiki Barber sets the record straight on Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning, as well as the New England Patriots' "ridiculously exceptional" season. Tiki is hardly surprised by the Giants' 9-4 record, which puts them in a great position to take the first wild-card slot in the NFC. "Honestly, the Giants can go to the Super Bowl this year — they [just] have to find a way to beat Dallas in Dallas," says Tiki. But this week's home game against another bitter divisional rival, the Redskins, is an important step toward shoring up their position. And, says Tiki, "the Redskins are a dangerous team.... The Giants should win, but they can't assume that. They have to play to a high level." –Nina Hämmerling Smith Check out Interviews & Features on Sunday for our in-depth Q&A with ... read more

Fantasy Fashion!

Episode 3I apologize for the delay. I originally created this blog for fun and then was asked to make it the official PR blog. Although, there are "rules" for blogging, this is voluntary, so please forgive me, but it will not always make it up in a timely manner. I promise to do my best, but I was very busy last week. The guest: Tiki Barber. There were two wonderfully, diverse reactions to Mr. Barber. First we had Kevin’s eyes pop out of their sockets and his jaw hit the floor; then we had Steven say, “…I don’t really know much about football, except that it’s probably the only time on television when spandex is acceptable.” There was also my reaction: WTF?Menswear is an extremely difficult challenge, especially for our “budding” designers who primarily work with women’s fashion. I applaud the challenge, because although females are stereotyped as the fashion guru gender; it’s stubborn to think men lack an opinion when it comes t... read more

Tiki Barber and Al Roker Talk About Today

Tiki Barber may have broken the New York Giants’ all-time rushing record, but he’s finding his most rewarding breakthrough with his post-NFL career as a coanchor on Today and Football Night in America."It’s fabulous and fulfilling in many different ways," Barber said Oct. 22 at the 2007 Quill Awards in New York City. "I’m growing and learning as I go, just like my football career. You start out small and start seeing where your dreams go. That’s what I’m trying to do."Today, which recently added an additional fourth hour of programming, has gotten some competition from ABC’s Good Morning America, which is creeping up in the ratings. However, Today weatherman Al Roker is not worried about their position."I think there’s an ebb and a flow," Roker told TVGuide.com. "But at the end of the day, we’re still No. 1, so it’s good competition." — Reporting by Rob Moynihan read more

Networks Scramble to Tackle Giants' Tiki Barber

Soon-to-retire New York Giants running back Tiki Barber is in demand from big-name broadcasters, Reuters reports. Among the contenders looking to add Barber to their team: ABC/ESPN, which the New York Post says offered the big guy a four-year, $10 million contract to contribute to both Good Morning America and the sports network's football coverage. (Sources have since been deemed that tale not true, however.)In related news, as a kid I loved Disney World's Riki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room. read more
