The U.S. Open — the second of men's golf's four majors — tees off Thursday morning from Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego. Two of golf's most popular players — and two of its most competitive rivals — will be paired during the first two rounds. The 2008 Masters — beginning Thursday — carries some impressive numbers. This will be CBS’ 53rd straight year of televising golf’s most megawatt major. The network has eight hours of coverage during the last two rounds at Augusta National Golf Club, on Saturday (April 12, 3:30 pm/ET) and Sunday (April 13, 2:30 pm/ET). ESPN is making its Masters debut this year with first- and second-round coverage Thursday and Friday (April 10 and 11, 4 pm/ET).Online coverage at masters.org includes over 48 hours of live video throughout the four-day event. Golf Channel's Tilghman Back On Air with Apology

Kelly Tilghman made her return to the Golf Channel at 3 pm/ET today for coverage of the Buick Invitational. Tilghman was suspended by the network for two weeks following controversial on-air comments she made about Tiger Woods on Jan. 4. During a discussion of Woods' dominance on the golf course, Tilghman said challengers would need to "lynch him in a back alley" if they were to have any chance of winning. In a statement, Woods said he knew "unequivocally that there was no ill intent in her comments," and called it "a non-issue." Apology Not Good Enough: Golf Channel Suspends Tilghman

Despite an apology for her extremely poor choice of words regarding Tiger Woods, Golf Channel play-by-play sportscaster Kelly Tilghman has been suspended for two weeks by the network.Last Friday, during a PGA Tour event in Hawaii, Tilghman said Woods' young rivals would need to "lynch him in a back alley" if they were to have any chance of defeating him. Tilghman later apologized and on Tuesday, Woods, through his agent, said "there was no ill intent in her comments," and called it a "non-issue." The Golf Channel, sensing rising outrage, didn't see it that way.
