NBA Celebrity All-Stars Announced

Alyssa Milano by Donato Sardella/ WireImage.com

Most All-Star games are dullsville — did anyone watch last night's Pro Bowl? — but the NBA does its best to keep interesting. The annual NBA All-Star Celebrity Game is often an amusing spectacle leading up to the big game. This year's eclectic collection of singers, actors and WNBA players should keep that tradition going. Ne-Yo? Taylor Hicks? Ando from Heroes?Alyssa Milano and Gabrielle Union will coach the two teams. Access Hollywood co-anchor Tony Potts, who was MVP of last year's game, will be on the floor for Milano's squad. Here are the two teams, which will face off Friday (Feb. 15, 7 pm/ET, ESPN) at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans:New Orleans Team: Ne-Yo (Grammy-winning singer) Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights) Taylor Hicks (2006 American Idol winner) Seth Gilliam (The Wire) James Lafferty (One Tree Hill) Master P (rapper and Dancing With the Stars alum) Ruth Riley (WNBA All-Star, San Antonio S... read more

Everybody Hates Chris' Ms. Morello Teaches Us a Lesson

Jacqueline Mazarella on Everybody Hates Chris

As Ms. Morello, the terminally Caucasian teacher on CW's Everybody Hates Chris (Mondays at 8 pm/ET), Jacqueline Mazarella earns laughs with racist quips that would land celebrities like Michael Richards in hot water. To (in)cite but a few examples, Ms. Morello, in an attempt to relate to Corleone Junior High's lone black student, has proudly pumped a black power fist, brought cans of food to his "ghetto" home at Christmas, and dubbed him a "sweet sweetback." Although Mazarella isn't a series regular, the TV newcomer is thrilled that her character has become one of the show's funniest, most wince-inducing recurring characters. TVGuide.com: Everybody Hates Chris has been your big TV break. How did you land the part? read more

You Gotta Love Chris' Rockin' Parents

Tichina Arnold and Terry Crews, Everybody Hates Chris

Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold are as funny and direct with each other as their characters Julius and Rochelle are on UPN's Everybody Hates Chris (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET). While the first-year comedy was filming the spring's final episodes, the actors sat for a playful, and sometimes painfully honest, chat about the intersection of their real and TV lives. TV Guide: Has success changed things for you?Terry Crews: I literally don't go anywhere without someone knowing who I am, loving the show. I have to think about whether I can go to the mall. TV Guide: Did you anticipate it being a hit?Tichina Arnold: The show just felt right, even before it aired. When we did the pilot, going up the read more

Dancing with the Stars It sure...

Dancing with the StarsIt sure seemed like the judges were regretting last week's score inflation — not that Drew and Stacy didn't deserve high marks, but now there's little room to mark their improvement. So in addition to handing out lower scores, Carrie Ann, Len and Bruno were downright nitpicky. I like it that way, though; how else would we know that a tango can be too Argentinean? Jerry and Anna: The football player's "go for the jugular" tactic made him look like he was concentrating too hard and not having as much fun as in the first episode, when he didn't take this whole thing so seriously. Lighten up!Giselle and Jonathan: I regret saying anything mean about Giselle last week; in her interviews she's quite likable. Her tango was ki read more

Everybody Hates Chris One of best...

Everybody Hates ChrisOne of best things about watching this show is listening to its '80s sound track. This week we heard Lionel Ritchie's "All Night Long," Kurtis Blow's "Tough" and Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." I'm sure you geeky musicologists out there are griping that the latter was actually released in 1985, two years after the episode takes place. Hey, that's nothing compared to the street montage that included a clear shot of the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square, which was built in 2001. But who watches this sitcom for accuracy? It's not a friggin' documentary. It's only inspired by Chris Rock's childhood. Even the dates are off. (He was born in '65, yet he's supposed to be a high-school freshman in 19 read more

How Is It Playing Chris Rock's Dad?

Terry Crews, Everybody Hates Chris

Everybody hates ratings, except perhaps the folks on Everybody Hates Chris (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET). While the family-friendly UPN sitcom inspired by Chris Rock's Brooklyn childhood is not a juggernaut in the grand scheme of prime time, its September premiere was the highest-rated episode of any comedy in the network's history. It also earned a Golden Globe nod for best television series, musical or comedy, but lost to Desperate Housewives. (Bitches.) Tonight the show returns from hiatus with another hilarious and heartwarming episode, in which Chris takes a part-time job delivering newspapers alongside his father, Julius, played by Terry Crews. Can you please tell me the ...

Question: Can you please tell me the name of the show that was something like American Gladiators? One of the people's names was T-Money. Thank you.

Answer: That was the syndicated Battle Dome, which was produced from 1999 to 2001, Sandy. On the show, three contestants competed in various extreme events against a host of fictional warriors, the best two contestants squaring off in a battle for $1,000 and a chance at a $100,000 championship.

The warriors' names and personalities demonstrated that someone behind the scenes was definitely paying attention to pro wrestling, American Gladiators, and, most likely, The Running Man and Mortal Kombat to boot. Characters included the Commander, Sleepwalker, D.O.A., Jake Fury, Mad Dog Steele, the Prince and, as you mention, T-Money. Of the lot, former NFL player Terry Crews, who seems to have dropped the T-Money work from his official bio, has read more

The only new show of the ...

Everybody Hates Chris

Question: The only new show of the season I watch and love is Everybody Hates Chris. Tichina Arnold is awesome as Chris' mother and the soundtrack completes the show. My question is: How is the show doing in the ratings? I know the first week it did great and the following week they went down, but how are things going now? What do you think of the show? Answer: Consider the time period, one of the week's most competitive. Then consider the UPN network, one of the industry's least competitive (most nights). By those standards, Everybody Hates Chris is a huge success. The show was never meant to win the time period or some such miracle, but for UPN, it's a home run. The show hasn't sustained the early breakthrough numbers (a result of the preseason hype, since viewing habits like Survivor are hard to break), but Chris still does so much better than any of the comedies that follow it, plus it has great media buzz. And it put UPN in the game on Thursday nights, which is easier said than ... read more
