Teri Hatcher's former uncle — the man she helped put in prison for molesting her, as well as two other young girls — has died while serving a 14-year sentence.According to the San Jose Mercury News, Richard Hayes Stone, who was previously married to the sister of the Desperate Housewives star's mother, died of colon cancer. He had been in prison six years. "It closes the book on a very, very sad tragedy," said Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Chuck Gillingham. "Unfortunately those who are still alive will always suffer from his actions." Hatcher came forward after one of the girls Stone was accused of abusing committed suicide in 2002. Hatcher contacted prosecutors and gave a detailed account of how Stone molested her in the late '60s and early '70s, when she was less than 7 years old. After the transcript was turned over to Stone's attorneys, he pleaded guilty, negating the need for a trial.Hatcher told Vanity Fair in 2006, four years after testifying and two y... read more

Desperate Teri Hangs Tough for a Good Cause

Teri Hatcher by Gregg DeGuire/ WireImage.com

Band From TV, which is comprised of actors from assorted network series, filled their charity quota in Hollywood on Sunday night by first performing at the Kodak Theatre for "Idol Gives Back" (airing Wednesday) and then driving to The Avalon to perform a set at Comedy for a Cure, an event that against tradition included almost no comedy at all. Teri Hatcher, now an official member of Band From TV, joined the group for one number despite having a 101-degree temperature. "Antibiotics!" she told TV Guide was the reason she was still able to soldier on. Band From TV came together for Hatcher because tuberous sclerosis is a cause that is important to her. "This award is the best I have ever been given," she said as she was honored by the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. "Everything I've done for you guys is my honor." Hatcher then performed Michelle Branch's "Take the Pieces When You Go" before heading home to get better. Melina Kanakaredes (CSI: NY), Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris), ... read more

MacGyver and Teri Hatcher Hooked Up?

Richard Dean Anderson and Teri Hatcher in MacGyver courtesy CBS

Today’s Lunch-isode Series: MacGyverEpisode Title: Every Time She SmilesSeason: 1Year: 1986Why we love this episode: Simple—Teri Hatcher (in all her 80s hair glory) guest-stars as motor-mouth Penny Parker in this episode. It’s almost painful to listen to here her ditzy character talk and talk and talk in that squeaky little voice. But, Mac doesn’t let that stop him from helping this damsel in distress from escaping Bulgaria and her scary ex-lover. And we’re really happy that Mac had a smooching scene with Teri. Seriously, he never got enough play in the show considering he’s the only guy ever to get out of near death situations with only a paperclip and chewed piece of gum. Who wouldn’t be all over him?Watch this episode now!Your take: What are your favorite MacGyver moments? read more

Judge Tosses Lawsuit Against Housewives' Hatcher

Teri Hatcher by Steve Granitz/ WireImage.com

A Los Angeles judge has thrown out a $2 million-plus lawsuit against Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher, redirecting the case to arbitration. Hydroderm, a cosmetics company that makes, among other products, a volumizing lip serum, claims that Hatcher violated a non-compete clause in her 2005 agreement with them by also lending her image to CityLips, a competing lip-plumping product. "Hatcher's name, image and likeness have been linked to so many competitors' products," the lawsuit said, "that it is anyone's guess as to what product keeps her skin and lips youthful." Hatcher's attorney Alan Wertheimer counters that her deal with Hydroderm had no bearing on other endorsement deals, and that the lawsuit was an "unjustified and public assault on Teri Hatcher's good name, reputation and celebrity." Nice kiss-off, Alan! — Mickey O'Connor read more

Hatcher Gives Lawsuit Lip Service, More Legal Briefs

Teri Hatcher has responded to the $2.8 million lawsuit she was hit with earlier this week. "Ms. Hatcher has not entered into any agreement with any other cosmetic or skincare companies or otherwise authorized or permitted any competitors of [Hydroderm] to use her name, likeness or celebrity in the promotion of products," her rep tells Extra. "[She] has done absolutely nothing wrong and has been ready, willing, able and eager to perform." In denying the plaintiff's motion, the judge called the claims "character assassination" of the "worst kind."Elsewhere: • Idol alumna Jessica Sierra has pleaded not guilty to charges of disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest and violating conditions of her parole on earlier felony battery and possession charges, and is being held without bail until her Dec. 20 hearing. Legal Briefs: Teri Hatcher Gets a Fat Lip the Old-Fashioned Way

Teri Hatcher by Alexandra Wyman/WireImage.com

You know, by being socked in it. Metaphorically speaking, of course. The Desperate Housewife is being sued by Hydroderm, TMZ says, because she broke the anti-competition clause in her contract with the company when she mouthed off about how wonderful City Cosmetics' Lip Plumper is. According to the legal docs, Hydroderm paid the erstwhile Lois Lane $2.4 million for her exclusive endorsement, and now its execs want all $2.4 million back.... In a move that will surprise no one, yesterday Dennis Quaid and his wife sued the makers of heparin, claiming that negligent packaging of the blood thinner led to the massive overdose their newborn twins were given at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.... Sasha Baron Cohen and his fellow Borat creators were sued again yesterday, this time by a driving instructor who claims he was suckered into appearing in the film.... A Dublin court has dropped all charges against The Tudors' Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who got a bit drunk and disorderly at the airpor... read more

"You Can't Judge a Book By Its Cover"

Dylan and Katherine briefly explored family genealogy. Lyndsy Fonseca and Dana Delany by Ron Tom/ABC

For those of us (I include myself) who often bemoan the ditzy, clutzy storylines consistently given to Susan (Teri Hatcher), tonight's episode was certainly a departure. Last week we saw a single brief glimpse of Mike taking some medication, on the sly. Tonight Bree discovered, and alerted Susan, that Mike was taking a "highly addictive narcotic." Feel free to disagree (seems Hatcher's acting ability is a divisive issue), but I really do think she can act, and the writers' constant use of her character as bimbo comic relief was/is a shame. In fact, I think she can play dark, dramatic and sinister better than Mike (James Denton). But it's Mike who has the drug problem, whether it's an addiction to painkillers or something worse. Susan assured him that he shouldn't feel pressure to overwork and provide an upscale suburban lifestyle for their child, but should focus on being a healthy father. And though she believed him when he shoved the pills down the drain, the episode's last moment... read more
