Last season, the CW parlayed a successful book series into a television show that has become an obsession for many of us. As The Vampire Diaries Season 1 left off, Katherine (Nina Dobrev) finally showed up, and we watched Hottie McHotterson vamp Damon (Ian Sommerhalder) lay a big wet one on Elena. Turns out it was actually Katherine, Elena's doppelganger and evil vampire twin from the 19th century. And then there was the whole chopping-off of Uncle John's fingers (with the ring that protects him), the death of Mayor Lockwood after the device revealed him to be something of the supernatural sort (werewolf, perhaps?), and a car crash that left Caroline's life hanging in the balance.
