Four best friends and perpetual losers -- Dooley (Tim Conway), Lou (Harvey Korman), Elton (Jack Weston) and Stump (Ted Wass) -- obtain their meager pleasure in life from betting on the ponies. But when they fall for a con man's promise to fix a race, the perils of gambling almost skin them alive. To place their bet, the pals borrow $5,000 from the mob and then learn that their horse is an ancient nag that can barely stand up, much less win a race.
