In the second episode of Castle's upcoming third season, an extended member of the Castle family will die.
"As in real life, death is sad, but it makes us all appreciate what we have around us a little bit more," series star Nathan Fillion told me after Castle's Comic-Con panel. Added series creator Andrew Marlowe: "This will bring the family closer together."

That's assuming, creator and executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe coyly tells TVGuide.com, that Beckett (Stana Katic) is still alive. Marlowe hints that the conclusion to the two-part event puts Special Agent Jordan Shaw (guest star Dana Delany) in her own share of trouble.
"Everyone has to redouble their efforts in order to make sure everyone stays alive," Marlowe says. "The case certainly does take a turn, and there are complications. Jordan Shaw is in the thick of it and by virtue of redoubling her effort to go after the serial killer, she becomes a target herself."

Sure, Episode 3 of the Ausiello Report vodcast (as well as Mike's fresh TV Guide column) scooped that Jenna Elfman would be guesting on ABC's Brothers & Sisters. But wait, there's more: Dharma's own mom-in-law, Susan Sullivan, will appear in the same April 15 episode, playing... the mother of Elfman's character.Sullivan and Elfman will play Miranda Jones and pregnant Lizzie Jones-Baker, respectively, two members of the Walkers' lifelong nemesis family, as the two clans match wits in a night of board games.
