Stuart Gordon Fast Facts:
  • Cofounded Madison, WI's Organic Theater Company and served as artistic director from 1969-85.
  • Directed a number of plays before segueing to film, including David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago and E/R, which CBS adapted into a short-lived sitcom in 1984.
  • Won the Critics' Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his 1985 debut feature, the horror-comedy Re-Animator.
  • Turned several of sci-fi/horror author H.P. Lovecraft's tales into films, including Re-Animator, Castle Freak (1995) and Dagon (2001).
