Top Moments: House's Living Autopsy, Mad Men's Shocking Discovery and More!

There were a lot of dirty tricks on TV this week. Jo Reynolds (Daphne Zuniga) cajoled poor Riley into posing topless on Melrose Place. House and Foreman conducted an autopsy on a living person. Gossip Girl's Chuck kissed a guy because of Blair's deception. CSI: Miami's Eric Delko tricked us all by slinking off into the night with barely any explanation. Welcome to this week's Top Moments: Dirty Tricks Edition.

Psych Exclusive: Steven Weber Says "Uncle"

Steven Weber is spending his downtime from wooing Brothers & Sisters' Sarah with a visit to USA Network's Psych. The vet of such series as Wings and Studio 60 will appear in a mid-August episode playing Henry's brother, and thus Shawn's uncle.Oh, but not just any visiting relative. Weber's Uncle Jack hits town claiming he has a map to hidden Spanish treasure. A race to beat raiders to the loot ensues, with James Roday presumably doing his best Shia LaBeouf.Weber's casting marks the latest expansion of Shawn's fam — Cybill Shepherd previously was announced as playing the lad's mother, in two episodes starting with the July 18 season opener. — Matt Mitovich read more

'Snitch'

I have more news on the Richard Belzer front. I spoke with the actor himself this week and he is very grateful that you guys all miss Detective Munch and it turns out we weren't imagining things: Belzer’s contract this year was reduced from 22 episodes to a measly 13. No word on why this happened. Belzer is as mystified as we are but the 63 year old's character was pretty much replaced by 35 year old Adam Beach this season. Nobody is saying its ageism and maybe I am just as conspiracy minded as Detective Munch but you do the math and tell me what you think.Executive Producer Neal Baer would not comment further. Although he told me last week Munch wasn't going anywhere, they have sure found screen time for Adam. I think every episode this season. Personally Munch is one of my favorite characters. He is funny, cynical and real. If you want to see more Munch let your voice be heard. Write to NBC or send a letter to TV Guide Magazine and let the show’s producers know ho... read more

Giving Thanks for TV

The past few weeks have been trying ones for anyone who cares about TV and the potentially devastating impact the ongoing writers’ strike could have on the current season and beyond. Which is why, being a cockeyed optimist and all, I’ve been cautiously thanking the fates ever since hearing that the Writers’ Guild and the producers’ alliance are going back to the negotiating table on Monday. No guarantee, of course, that this will mean a quick end to the standoff that has shut so much production down already. But hey, it’s Thanksgiving week, so let’s stay in a thankful and hopeful mode, OK?In that light, here are 10 more reasons to be thankful about the current week in TV as we head into the Thanksgiving break.1. We’re still in a sweeps month, which has allowed us most nights to live blissfully in denial that a strike is even happening, since new episodes continue to abound (including over most of this long holiday weekend). Depending on what happen... read more

In the Works: Steven Weber Zips Up, and More

Steven Weber, who has a recurring gig coming up on Brothers & Sisters, will star in Zip, a half-hour comedy pilot for NBC. Weber will play a Beverly Hills hanger-on who, with a colorful cast of accomplices, concocts one scheme after another to "make it big" and provide for his three kids.... Also from the Reporter, Starsky & Hutch film director Todd Phillips will make his TV debut with The More Things Change, an ABC comedy pilot about four guy friends.... MTV is developing a new take — three, actually — on Name That Tune, each of which will be customized for play on MTV, VH1 and CMT. read more
