Did The Vampire Diaries' Elena Gilbert finally have a happy ending? It seems that way — for now.
On the Season 4 finale, Mystic Falls' leading lady confessed her love for Damon (Ian Somerhalder), beat her doppelganger Katherine (Nina Dobrev) at her own game by making her mortal, and even got her brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), back. So is Dobrev hopeful for her character's immediate future?

"Get the girl," Alaric told Damon at the end of last week's Vampire Diaries. But will he?
By the end of that episode, Elena (Nina Dobrev) had her emotions back, but was mainly consumed with defeating Katherine, and reuniting and ultimately saying goodbye to her brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Echoing the Season 3 finale with the big question of who — if anyone —will Elena choose, the Season 4 ender will leave viewers with a clear notion, again, of where she stands.
The Vampire Diaries: Is Elena really herself again?

Jeremy lives! Maybe. Probably not.
Steven R. McQueen is set to return to The Vampire Diaries this season, TVGuide.com has learned. TVLine.com first reported the news.

Get ready for vampire Elena Gilbert 2.0.
Just as The Vampire Diaries' Elena (Nina Dobrev) was getting used to the idea of being a vampire, she learned there could be a cure. But with that quest leading to the death of her brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) forcing Elena to shut off her emotions so she could deal, Elena has now become a force to be reckoned with.
"The second half [of the season] is about Elena now being a vampire with all the true definitions of the word: She's driven by a desire to feed and she doesn't care who she hurts along the way," executive producer Julie Plec tells TVGuide.com. "She's certainly not going to be pleased about who's trying to stop her from being the way she wants to be. So now it's like what trouble does she get herself into, what does everyone else try to do to help her or to stop her or to defeat her or to give up on her."
Tough times are ahead for The Vampire Diaries's Caroline Forbes.
After Klaus (Joseph Morgan) once again threatened to kill Tyler (Michael Trevino), Caroline (Candice Accola) had to watch as Tyler once again ran away to save his life. But instead of having time to cope with the sad loss, Caroline must also remain strong for Elena (Nina Dobrev) who appears to have lost her brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). How will she handle both?
Is all hope for a Klaus-and-Caroline friendship officially gone?
In one of the most heartbreaking Vampire Diaries scenes, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) were forced to say goodbye — yet again — so that Tyler could leave town before Klaus (Joseph Morgan) could kill him. While it seems this act would be one of many final straws, Morgan says the dynamic between the two is much more complicated than that.
The Vampire Diaries: Who died, who left town and who returned?
"There's always got to be a hint of hope [for them], hasn't there?" Morgan tells TVGuide.com in the video below.
Will the search for the cure on The Vampire Diaries unite Elena with her former boyfriend Stefan and arch-nemesis Rebekah? And is a certain doppelganger making her return?
The CW has released two new promo posters that are not only typically hot and sexy, but also hold little hints as to what's to come.
The Vampire Diaries' Graham: Bonnie and Kol's run-in is one of her most intense scenes yet
Kat Graham and Nathaniel Buzolic
The Vampire Diaries' Elena (Nina Dobrev) has decided the only way to un-compel Damon (Ian Somerhalder) from wanting to kill Jeremy (Steven McQueen) is to kill Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic). (Incidentally, he's also standing in their way of the cure.) But when the task falls on Bonnie (Kat Graham), she's left in a dangerous situation.
"This is the first scene that Bonnie and Kol have had together and it's honestly one of the most intense scenes I've had with one other person since I don't know when," Graham tells us in this week's Vampire Diaries Bite.
The Vampire Diaries' Klaus essentially put a target on his back by killing Mayor Lockwood. Nevertheless, Joseph Morgan says the baddie Original doesn't have a care in the world when the show returns from its holiday hiatus.
"In the episodes to come after break, there's a certain amount of him sitting with his feet up, looking at the carnage as it unfolds before him," Morgan tells TVGuide.com. "He's pulling the puppet strings and then letting them go to see what happens."
Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder
Who does The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev think Elena really wants to shag?
While on the set of the CW series, TVGuide.com asked Dobrev and her co-stars Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola, Steven McQueen and Joseph Morgan who they'd "shag, marry or stake" given several options. While some answers are obvious (everyone wants to marry Matt!), others are more surprising — and hilarious
