Stephen Collins: "Dating" Diane Keaton Is Pure Heaven

Stephen Collins with Diane Keaton, Because I Said So

Stephen Collins must have an "in" with The Big Guy Up There, because this weekend the patriarch of the CW's long-running 7th Heaven (Sundays at 8 pm/ET) is hitting the big screen to woo no less than Diane Keaton. TVGuide.com spoke with the actor about slipping out of the reverend's collar to reunite with (and mack on) Annie Hall, and invited him to dispel the "7th Heaven versus Everwood" myth. TVGuide.com: First, let's put some people at ease. Stephen Collins does not have a serious heart condition. Rev. Eric Camden does. I hear there's some confusion?Steph read more

The Darfur Tragedy Hits Home on 7th Heaven

The 7th Heaven cast reached out to Darfur on and off screen.

If you've watched 7th Heaven over its 11-season run — or even caught a glimpse of one episode — you know that the Camdens aren't just about achieving family harmony but about helping the entire community that surrounds them. This week's new episode (Sunday at 8 pm/ET, on the CW) is no exception. In fact, it covers a pressing issue that we've been hearing about every day: Darfur — a topic so devastating, it's a real departure from the common troubles we usually see on this family drama. Filled with information about the crisis abroad, executive producer Brenda Hampton spoke with TVGuide.com about the motivation behind this episode, 7th Heaven's again-uncertain fate, and saying goodbye to some of our favorite Camdens. TVGuide.com: I just watched the Darfur episode, and it's amazing how much dial read more

7th Heaven scoop, please. ...

Question: 7th Heaven scoop, please. Anything!

Answer: Tragedy looms for one of the Camden kids as the 11th season opens. And a younger man is going to cause problems for Lucy and Kevin in Episode 2. Stephen Collins, meanwhile, will lampoon his do-gooder Heaven image in tomorrow's season finale of FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. All I'll say is that he has a surprising connection to Dennis and Dee, and it's one of two major twists in the episode.

7th Heaven Pop Says Goodbye: Part 2

Stephen Collins of 7th Heaven

In Part 1 of TVGuide.com's Q&A with Stephen Collins, the actor spoke candidly about WB's unexpected — by cast and crew members, especially — decision to make this 7th Heaven's final season, and even hinted that an agreement might have been arrived at to trim the series' costs and perhaps keep it on the air. Here in Part 2, Rev. Eric Camden's portrayer elaborates on that thought, updates us on the spin-off talk and discusses his Rick Nelson worship.TVGuide.com: Are you saying that the 7th Heaven cast would have made some sacrifices to keep it on another year? Would that have been a discussion?Stephen Collins: read more

7th Heaven Pop Says Goodbye: Part 1

Stephen Collins of 7th Heaven

After 10 years as the WB's unsung savior, 7th Heaven is being sent to, well, programming heaven. The network declared the show "too expensive" to keep running and announced that this season would be the family drama's last — though there is some talk of a spin-off. In a two-part interview, TVGuide.com spoke with Stephen Collins, who since Heaven's debut has played Rev. Eric Camden, the paterfamilias of seven kids — which some might call hell, but maybe that's just us — about the show's value, its abrupt cancellation and more. TVGuide.com: When did you find out that Heaven was canceled?Stephen Collins: [Series creator] Brenda [Ham read more

After last week's episode with...

After last week's episode with the reality crew, I was about toss this show into the muck, but this week's renewed my faith like a pair of pocket aces. It epitomized what this show is all about — a bizarre mix of celebs who have good senses of humor and gambling. If I just wanted to watch people playing cards, I'd tune in to the World Series of Poker — OK, I do spend my weekends watching that, too. Anyway the rowdy all-guy crew was made up of Stephen Collins (aka the dad from 7th Heaven), Bryan Cranston (aka the dad from Malcolm in the Middle), Howie Mandel (who is being a Public Nuisance), Peter Dinklage (the star of The Station Agent and that new Threshold series) and Meat Loaf (who is, well, Meat Loaf), and they just call him Meat which cracked me up. Aside from Howie, they all seemed to know how to play the game and could tell when they had a straight or a flush, unlike som read more
