Celebrity Charities: Stephen Baldwin Finds Purpose in Breast Cancer Work

Stephen Baldwin

If you're ever in Syracuse, N.Y., don't be surprised to see an 80-year-old woman in a pink helmet sitting in a sidecar of a Harley-Davidson. That's just Carol M. Baldwin, matriarch of the Baldwin clan, doing her part to raise money for her Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Son Stephen Baldwin tells TVGuide.com: " ... We're trying to talk her out of it because she ain't getting any younger!"

The 41-year-old Baldwin is doing his part too, volunteering on behalf of the organization, which his mother, a breast cancer survivor, created in 1996 without the help of her famous sons. "It was really after my mom had created enough awareness of the organization on her own ... that it became a catalyst for the brothers to almost have to get involved. It was pretty cool to see," he says. Since then, the organization has been a family affair and has raised nearly $3 million for research.

We caught up with Baldwin to learn more about his work, including another cause that's close to his heart.

Jeers: Celebrity Trump Roast

Marilu Henner by Justin Stephens/NBC Photo

Jeers to The Celebrity Apprentice for engaging in huge hyperbole (even by Trump standards). The premiere touted the contestants as "14 of the world's most successful celebrities." Really? Stephen Baldwin? He's not even one of the most successful Baldwin brothers! Marilu Henner? She's doing better than ex-Taxi costar Jeff Conaway (who's now in VH1's Celebrity Rehab), but that's not saying much. And Omarosa? Competitor Vincent Pastore put it best: "Ponderosa? Nobody knows who she is. Fuhgeddabout her." This show's casting director should be fired! Now see what Matt Roush has to say about Celebrity Apprentice!• Read and react to Bruce's opinions on the "new" Law & Order, The Wire and more!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

Celebs Hit Streets for Trump's New Apprentice

Jenna Jameson by Denise Truscello/WireImage.com

Celebrities are now vying for the position of Donald Trump's "top dog" by taking their business to the streets. Literally.Seven of 14 celebs on The Apprentice's first celebrity edition were behind two Sabrett hot-dog carts in midtown Manhattan Friday afternoon to tape a challenge for the NBC show. Led by America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan on the megaphone, the celebrities stopped curious passersby for a donation to charity and an authentic New York street hot dog. At another location, some of the female contestants (including Omarosa, Marilu Henner and Playmate Tiffany Fallon) were manning their own cart. While Morgan was the moneyman for his team, country-music star Trace Adkins, actor Stephen Baldwin and UFC fighter Tito Ortiz served up the franks. Heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, Sopranos star Vinnie Pastore and Kiss frontman Gene Simmons handled the crowd, gladly posing for pictures as long as a donation was made and a hot dog was sold.A few celebrity friends stopped ... read more

Stephen Baldwin Gives Us a Scare

When we heard that Stephen Baldwin was replacing Shannen Doherty as host of Sci Fi Channel's Scare Tactics (starting with the reality hit's third-season premiere tonight at 10 pm/ET), we came down with the giggles, not the jitters. But, as Alec, Billy and Daniel's brother tells TV Guide Online, the job doesn't call for him to be frightening, just himself. "You have to have a certain sick sense of humor to get the show. That's why [I think the producers] called me. They said, 'The show has gotten gnarlier — you'd be a perfect fit [as host]!' "Besides," he adds with a laugh, "there are a whole bunch of people out there who think that I'm very scary!" That said, the 38-year-old actor, whose films have ranged from the sublime (The Usual Suspects, with Kevin Spacey) to the ridiculous (Bio-Dome, with Pauley Shore), may be a more natural fit with Sci Fi than he even realizes.
