Although in 2005 she won the title of Savannah Star in her home state of Georgia, due to her busy schedule as a college freshman, she considered skipping the AI auditions in 2007. But this sassy, Southern, Beyoncé-like diva listened to her parents when they insisted she try out for the show. Singing since age 3, Edwards had only had one month of professional vocal training when she made it to the Top 12 on Season 6 of American Idol. Perhaps her inexperience did her in, because on March 21, 2007, she became the second finalist to go home.
