Soupy Sales, the boundary-breaking comedian who good-naturedly endured, by his count, more than 20,000 pies to the face, has died. He was 83.
The comic's anything-for-a-laugh pie-throwing shtick became his trademark, and stars including Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis and Shirley MacLaine took one in the face on the comedian's television show in the early 1960s.

I won;t lie, I;m completely unfamiliar with The Soupy Sales Show (cue two commenters pretending to be appalled that anyone wouldn;t know one thing from ever), but the following clip (via Dlisted) should suffice as the requisite online tribute on the day of his passing at 83.In this vid, Soupy discovers a singing, piano-playing spider and introduces him to a heroin-thin Alice Cooper (why wouldn;t you?).
