Ed O'Neill, Betty White
Modern Family led the 17th Screen Actors Guild nominations Thursday with four mentions, as Ed O'Neill finally got some awards love, while Betty White continues to be the toast of the town.
The cast of the ABC comedy will vie for comedy ensemble honors against defending champ Glee, The Office, 30 Rock and Hot in Cleveland. Modern Family stars O'Neill — who was snubbed at the Emmys and the Golden Globes — Ty Burrell and Sofia Vergara picked up acting ...

Ed O’Neill
Modern Family's Ed O'Neill doesn't think Jane Lynch deserved to win the Emmy for her role in Glee, and doesn't mind saying so.
"I love Jane, honestly I do," O'Neill told TV Guide Canada. "I'm dying to star in one of Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but...

Modern Family, The Ellen Show
Our favorite moments of the TV week:
12. Hardest-to-Root-For Good Guy: On Boardwalk Empire, agent Van Alden's creepy crush on Margaret Schroeder takes on a quasi-religious bent this week. As the pious prohibitionist looks longingly at a file photo of Margaret, he flogs himself with a leather belt. A topography of scars on his back reveals that this isn't the first time he's had to punish himself for impure thoughts.
11. Most Recycled Storyline: Kevin and Scotty, Brothers & Sisters' most beloved and functional couple, are dealt a...

I love Halloween episodes! Tell me about Modern Family's. — Denis
MICKEY: It'll focus on a horror of another sort: Gloria's accent! "She tries to fix her accent, but of course that doesn't happen," Sofia Vergara tells us. Ariel Winter, who plays Gloria's brainy step-granddaughter Alex, adds: "Gloria takes on some new weird way of speaking." Since "Ay, Manny!" is already my favorite non sequitur exclamation, I can't wait to see what rich verbal stylings Mrs. Delgado-Pritchett will serve up next.
Can you give me some scoop about Danno on Hawaii Five-0? — Nikki
ADAM: Tired of his ex-wife's angry phone calls? Get ready to...

Sofia Vergara
Sofia Vergara almost looked a lot different than the voluptuous Latin brunette we know her as today.

A natural blonde, the Modern Family star tells the October issue of Self magazine that the ignorance of casting directors made her go dark.
"When I started acting, I would go to auditions and they didn't know where to put me because I was voluptuous and had the accent — but I had blond hair, "the actress says. "The moment I dyed my hair dark, it was, 'Oh, she's the hot Latin girl...' I'd always felt a little 'too much' as a blonde, like a big-mouth version of Pamela Anderson."

Though Modern Family's Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) would love to brag that he really kissed Gloria (Sofia Vergara), Burrell concedes that it was all acting. The pair locked lips in a Season 1 episode that was shot at the Staples Center during an actual Lakers game.
Where did Modern Family fall on the list of most anticipated returning shows?
"I still have people coming up to me saying, 'I was at that game that you were at,' not knowing that we filmed there," says Burrell. "They thought that we were actually kissing on the kiss-cam. Yeah, just hanging out with Sofia kissing," he deadpans. "No."

A recent ad in Variety said that Sofia Vergara would streak down Hollywood's Sunset Blvd. if Modern Family won Best Comedy at the Emmys. (The fine print said the cast reserved the right to make a substitution if necessary.) "If something happens to me, because I have really bad knees and I'm not in shape, Ed O'Neill said he would back me up and do it for me," says Vergara. "He has more experience in these kinds of things than me." This we gotta see.
