"We spoke about a bunch of stuff, mainly how he came from the perspective of respect and admiration for the original film, and how he wants to find his own angle in."

Miley vs. Will Smith: Prepping a Teen Choice Dance-off?

Miley Cyrus by Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images

Will Miley Cyrus be going up against Will Smith in a dance-off at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards? The pop star, who's also hosting the awards, has been engaged in an ongoing, YouTube-fueled dance battle with her best pal, Mandy Jiroux, against actor-dancer Adam Sevani and his Step Up 2 director, Jon M. Chu. Now, Sevani suggests that Will Smith may get into the act during Sunday's show. "Will Smith is so cool," Cyrus' 15-year-old dance nemesis told E!. "I wanted to use him for our [Teen Choice] performance, but I don't know if he's gonna be here."While Smith's participation isn't certain, the Sunday dance battle is definitely going down. Sevani's team (ACDC) and Cyrus' (M&M Cru) have been bringing celebs from Lindsay Lohan to Adam Sandler in for their YouTube videos — so Sunday's segment will likely have its surprises. For his part, though, the only thing on Sevani's mind is victory. "We're going to just murder them," he promised. "Single-handedly!" — Anna Dimond read more

Do Sheen and Heigl Deserve TV's Biggest Bucks?

Charlie Sheen by Greg Gayne/Warner Bros. Television. All Rights Reserved/CBS, Katherine Heigl by Bob D'Amico/ABC

A new survey by Forbes Magazine names Charlie Sheen and Katherine Heigl as TV's best-paid actors. The Two and a Half Men cut-up earned $20 million in 2007, while Heigl pulled in $13 mil for her rotation on Grey's Anatomy. (It would seem the quality of her boss' paychecks was up to snuff, yes.)Of course, that's all parking valet tip money compared to what their counterparts in the movie biz are taking home. Will Smith was the big screen's biggest earner for the year, depositing $80 million into his bank account. Among the men, he was followed by Johnny Depp (a bargain at $72 mil) and Eddie Murphy (overpriced at $55 mil). Cameron Diaz was Hollywood's best-paid actress for 2007, earning $50 mil. Keira Knightley placed No. 2 with $32 mil, followed by Jennifer Aniston ($27 mil).In the category of "media personalities," Oprah of course dominated, raking in $275 million for the year. MTV Movie Awards Heat Up the Gold Carpet

Will Smith by Lester Cohen/WireImage.com

Against the backdrop of Burbank's deep valley, the 2008 MTV Movie Awards attracted some of the biz's hottest stars, from both the establishment and the rising Hollywood set. Just beyond the gold carpet, a huge cloud of black smoke hovered from the fire at Universal Studios, but the incident didn't stop the crush of celebs, press and fans that filled the arrivals area of the Gibson Amphitheater.Making his way into the event, Best Week Ever's Doug Benson acknowledged the unseemly juxtaposition, joking, "I'm not on fire. It's not hot enough out here as it is. Let's get some soot, difficult breathing conditions. This is perfect!" Fitting the spirit of the awards, Benson sported a '420' tee under his jacket, an oddly prescient choice given Seth Rogen and James Franco's joint-smoking moment during the show. At any given time, the gold carpet was filled with stars, their entourages, Elle Woods wannabes and production assistants, scurrying back and forth. Among some of the passersby was Wil... read more

I, Robot — Blu-ray Review

I, Robot courtesy 20th Century Fox

Will Smith stars as a police detective investigating the suspicious death of a scientist in I, Robot, the 2004 action-packed blockbuster movie from director Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City), based on the short stories by Isaac Asimov. This single-disc Blu-ray release is an update of their 2005 Collector's Edition DVD release, and all the bonus material from that release has been brought to Blu-ray, plus this release includes an "Annotated Guide" and a "Search Index" which wasn't present on the DVD.I, Robot is a movie I've meant to watch for a long, long time. I almost picked up the original DVD release, then passed it over when I heard a Collector's Edition was coming, which I then forgot to buy. I've seen it in the discount bin from time to time, but kept putting off buying it, and then I heard about the killer Blu-ray release that was in the works. I feel fortunate not to have watched the movie on DVD, since now I can experience the movie for the first time in high definition.The... read more
