What Women Want -- After an accident, a chauvenistic executive gains the ability to hear what women are really thinking (or rather, an inability not to hear it).

Small town girl Jodie Palmer aspires to a new life beyond Midland, Texas. Her boyfriend Kyle Richardson however, is content working at his factory job, and drinking with his friends. She becomes more determined than ever after her friend Caroline, now a successful country and western singer, comes home for a visit. Meanwhile, Kyle and his drunken buddies continue their rowdy nightly pranks. Jodie's chance to get away comes when she is accepted for stewardess training in Los Angeles. Events reach breaking point, when Kyle quits his factory job to work for his obnoxious brother selling mobile homes. However, when his brother makes a pass at Jodie, she decides to leave for Los Angeles. All alone, Kyle comes to his senses, and realises how much he really loves Jodie. He makes a mad run to the airport, overcomes security, and is finally reunited with Jodie.

Nick Marshall (Mel Gibson), an advertising executive and swinging bachelor accidentally stumbles upon the power to hear what women are thinking. Nick decides to use this newfound power to sabotage his boss Darcy (Helen Hunt) in order to further his own career. Things don't go exactly as planned when Nick falls in love with Darcy – creating conflict between his desire to get ahead and his inner voice telling him to follow his heart.

When a hopelessly chauvinistic business executive gains the power to hear what women around him are actually thinking, he finds himself in a whole new world of possibilities -- and problems.
