The Mujahideen Shura Council released a statement along with a video claiming responsibility for shooting down an American helicopter in Baghdad on Saturday April 1, 2006. However US military officials deny the video's veracity, and consider the video propaganda.
The self-declared Libyan army is fighting to take control of Benghazi. They're up against Shura Council forces, who are among dozens of armed groups fighting to carve out their own fiefdoms, three years after the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. Spokesman Mohammed Hijazi says the army is poised for victory.
