CBS has ordered a fifth installment of Tom Selleck's sleuthing series: Jesse Stone: Thin Ice, to start shooting in August in Nova Scotia. Hallmark Channel has grabbed rights to the previous four entries, with the first set to air Aug. 4.... USA Network has greenlit 11 episodes of To Love and Die, a series starring Shiri "Don't Call Me Amy From" Appleby as a gal with abandonment issues she believes can be resolved if she could track down the father (Tim Matheson) she never knew. (Oops, turns out Dad is an assassin-for-hire!) The cast also includes Frances Fisher, Christine Adams, Kristin Datillo and possibly Ivan Sergei. Look for an early-2008 premiere.

Touching Evil's Jeffrey Donovan has landed the lead in Burn Notice, USA Network's drama pilot about a special-ops agent who uses his training to try to uncover the reason he's been blacklisted.... Also per the Hollywood Reporter, Shiri Appleby (Roswell) will star as a fun-loving woman who tracks down her dad only to learn he's an assassin in the USA comedy pilot To Love and Die in L.A..... Showtime has picked up Meadowlands, an eight-episode drama about a family of four struggling to escape its troubled past via the witness-protection program, to premiere in summer 2007.

Ever since UPN staked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we've been waiting for a new Chosen One to emerge and kick some bogeyman butt. With the premiere of Darklight this Saturday (9 pm/ET on Sci Fi), our patience finally pays off: Roswell ingenue Shiri Appleby comes out swingin' as Lilith, an age-old demon reprogrammed to fight the forces of evil. Sound good? It did to Miss Appleby, too.
"When you see a strong heroine like that in a script, I think it would be silly not to jump at the opportunity [to take the part]," the 25-year-old California girl tells TV Guide Online. "I knew it would be interesting, and it was. It's very odd looking in the mirror and seeing your face covered in purple [makeup] — definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience!"
