Ellen DeGeneres by Gregg DeGuire/ WireImage.com

We were promised more energy, more fun and more excitement for this year's Daytime Emmy Awards, and the event delivered. Opening with multiple, overlapping spoofs on daytime television, hosts Sherri Shepherd and Cameron Mathison set the tone from the start. With an all-new, banquet-style set-up and an open bar for the guests, the sweltering L.A. evening outdoors was left far behind for the cool festivities inside the Kodak theater. Backstage in the press room, TVGuide.com heard from the winners of each category, where the newly crowned Daytime Emmy recipients gushed about their new trophies.Tyra Banks was one of the first of the night to take home a win. For her acceptance speech, she took over the entire stage area with her team when they won for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative series, and she was no less outspoken when she arrived at the press room. Explaining that she'd had her own "ugly cry" after holding her composure on camera, she also spoke to her mother's emotions over th... read more

The View cohost Sherri Shepherd, formerly of prime time's Less Than Perfect and currently recurring as 30 Rock's Angy Angie Jordan, is developing a sitcom vehicle for the CW in which she would star as (art-imitates-life alert!) a married woman who discovers that her hubby not only has been unfaithful, but has an illegitimate kid to show for it. Sherri Shepherd Discusses Her View Deal

Sherri Shepherd, The View

The View definitely has a different view in its newest host Sherri Shepherd. The comic actress who joined the ABC chatfest on Sept. 11 even makes resident conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck wince when she disses evolution. Not that pious means puritan. On her very first day at the table, Shepherd proclaimed that she once sent nearly nude pix to her boyfriend — in prison! We talked to the self-described "real woman" about life on The View, her negotiations for the plum job and her gig on the Emmy-winning 30 Rock. TVGuide.com: You were always a front-runner. Whoopi! Hurrah! Yay! The View (Ratings) Still Good

Didn't see this one comin'. Whoopi Goldberg's first week on The View tied Rosie O'Donnell's with a 1.2 rating (which had previously been the best that the chatfest had ever gotten for a premiere week). Moreover, says the Hollywood Reporter, the show was up 42 percent from the week before and up 12 percent in the key women aged 18-49 demo. Sherri Shepherd's brought some eyeballs to The View as well. Her debut Monday averaged 3.9 million viewers, a tasty increase from last season's second-week average of 3.1 million.Matt is en route to the Emmys in Los Angeles. Sherri Shepherd Signed On to The View in August

Comic Sherri Shepherd has been chosen to fill Star Jones Reynolds' long-vacant fifth seat on The View. Although the official announcement will have to wait until Sept. 10, the deal was made back in August, TV Guide has learned exclusively. The View producers were hoping to stay mum about Shepherd’s status for a couple of weeks to keep the hoopla focused on Whoopi Goldberg's signing on as moderator. But an anonymous source leaked the news early.Shepherd, who has guest-hosted on the ABC chatfest over a dozen times, campaigned hard for the job. "I’ve been telling them I’m available," she told TV Guide in June. "If you want me, I’m available." Apparently, what Sherri wants, Sherri gets. — Reporting by Ileane Rudolph read more
