Redskins Safety Taylor Dies from Gunshot Wound

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, 24, who was shot in his South Florida home on Monday, died early today after losing a significant amount of blood. Apparently the victim of a home invasion or robbery attempt — eight days after police were called when an intruder broke into his home — Taylor was shot in the upper leg, damaging the femoral artery. Although there were indications that he had regained consciousness for a short stretch, his injuries were severe. Taylor's girlfriend and 1-year-old daughter were also in the house at the time of the attack but were not injured. Taylor had faced trouble earlier in his four-year career — and his life. He received multiple fines for late hits, missing mandatory meetings, violating uniform codes and spitting at Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman during a playoff game.
