Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, 24, who was shot in his South Florida home on Monday, died early today after losing a significant amount of blood. Apparently the victim of a home invasion or robbery attempt eight days after police were called when an intruder broke into his home Taylor was shot in the upper leg, damaging the femoral artery. Although there were indications that he had regained consciousness for a short stretch, his injuries were severe. Taylor's girlfriend and 1-year-old daughter were also in the house at the time of the attack but were not injured. Taylor had faced trouble earlier in his four-year career and his life. He received multiple fines for late hits, missing mandatory meetings, violating uniform codes and spitting at Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman during a playoff game.
