Reader's Cheer of the Week: To the Manor Born

Stockard Channing by Amy Graves/WireImage.com

Posted by synergy21...Cheers to Animal Planet for landing Stockard Channing as the new narrator of Meerkat Manor! She brings a certain je ne sais quoi to the show, giving the writers a larger degree of creative license. As much as we enjoyed Sean Astin, we can't imagine him pulling off lines like, "What light through yonder bush breaks?" like Channing did in episode 2. Great job as always, AP!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

Who names the meerkats, and what criteria do they use to come up with the names? The Cambridge University researchers named most of the meerkats as a way to tell them apart, and assigned some names based on personalities, as with heroic Shakespeare. Others got their names a bit more randomly. "They just run out of names sometimes," says Meerkat Manor executive producer Mick Kaczorowski. "So you see some of them [named after] spices, some [named after] theatrical stars, and then they'll just start naming them something starting with 'St.' In Season 3, I know there's a new group that's coming forward that starts with 'St.'" Why has the show become such a viewer favorite? Because of those cute little faces, and story lines that ri read more

Mary Lynn Rajskub, 24

That glorious glowing digital clock is ticking away again, now that Fox's 24 has returned with a four-hour Season 5 premiere (continuing tonight at 8 pm/ET). TVGuide.com invited quirky little Chloe, aka Mary Lynn Rajskub (rhymes with "rice cub," says the actress), to leak to us some top-secret vittles.

TVGuide.com: So what am I missing by not bothering with the Season 5 "prequel" packed in the newest 24 boxed DVD set?
Mary Lynn Rajskub:
Oh, you're missing both of our hairdos — Jack Bauer has a great hairdo, and my hair is down, which is exciting. OK, it's not really that exciting. I just get to have a different outfit for a minute. It all just kind of tips off the new season, which I guess read more
