The Event Returns with Close Encounters

Jason Ritter

Despite a less than eventful fall launch, Jason Ritter is remaining "cautiously optimistic" that The Event will return for a second season. But first, he preps us for tonight's two-hour mid-season return. Last we saw Ritter's character, Sean, he had rescued girlfriend Leila (Sarah Roemer) from a kidnapping connected to what he describes as "the biggest U.S. cover-up of all time. We figured out the government has been holding a group of alien detainees in Alaska who have not seemed to age for the past 66 years."

Together, the duo also discovered that Leila's father, Michael (Scott Patterson), was actually ...

The Event Episode Recap: "I Haven't Told You Everything"

What is the event of The Event? That's the question posed by this intriguing NBC pilot, and obviously no easy answer is forthcoming. What's clear is that, much like Lost and 24 and the serialized dramas that came before it, The Event will be about the journey and not the destination. The show heads out to each commercial break with a head-scratching cliffhanger. It's an intricate, scrambled narrative with lots of "eleven days earlier"-type title cards, but for the purpose of this recap, I'm going to (try to) keep things relatively simple and sequential. Let's dive in, shall we?

Dan Byrd, Aliens in America

He might be Medora, Wisconsin's biggest dork ever, but Aliens in America's (Mondays, 8:30 pm/ET, The CW) Justin Tolchuk manages to have a pretty adventurous life anyway. All that and Justin's school year has hardly even begun.
