Sarah Chalke by Jesse Grant/WireImage.com
OMFG, she is so the mother! I think. I'm hearing from multiple sources that Sarah Chalke is in advanced talks to reprise her role as Ted's possible future wife on How I Met Your Mother. In fact, just moments ago, Chalke's Mother crush himself, Josh Radnor here to shoot a guest appearance for next week's Ausiello Report vodcast confirmed that we'd probably be seeing Stella for a "few more episodes" this season. He was quick to add, however, that he has no clue whether or not she's the mother. "I really don't know," he said, "nor do I ask." Radnor also pleaded ignorance regarding the possibility of Britney Spears returning as Chalke's unhinged assistant, although he expressed confidence that exec producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas "could write a great plot for her to come back." Neil Patrick Harris may prove a harder sell. Radnor's costar told the Associated Press that too much of Spears may not be a good thing. "I'm in the minority that our show does not need stunt c...

Josh Radnor and Britney Spears in How I Met Your Mother by Monty Brinton/CBS
Which Britney Spears do you prefer: the tragic cartoon version that appeared, head half-blown-off, on last weeks brutal South Park satire; or the silly cartoon version that appeared, mercifully briefly, on Monday nights How I Met Your Mother? Could the appropriate answer be: Neither? Every time I see or hear about her, in unflattering paparazzi shots or the endless litany of late-night stand-up insults, I cant help but wonder at a culture so fascinated by someone so intrinsically uninteresting. On Mother, she was harmless and even (dare I say) kind of cute as an office receptionist with a crush on Ted, who in turn had a crush on her boss (Scrubs Sarah Chalke, who walked away with the episode). Eyes wide and face frozen in an eager-to-please grin, the sitcom Britney was kind of endearing as she desperately tried to endear herself to Ted. The role wasnt really juicy enough to merit the attention it got as a stunt, but it was probably appropriately suited f...

Sarah Chalke and Josh Radnor in How I Met Your Mother by Monty Brinton/CBS
Cheers to How I Met Your Mother for booking a brilliant guest star: Sarah Chalke. Oh, Britney Spears was on, too, and she was fine in her relatively minor role as a ditzy receptionist. But as Stella, a dermatologist who removed the butterfly "tramp stamp" from Ted's back, Chalke reportedly a last-minute replacement for Alicia Silverstone displayed real chemistry with Josh Radnor. (Not surprisingly, the Scrubs doc looked totally comfortable in her white coat.) CBS' on-the-bubble sitcom deftly used Spears' publicity-generating gig to lure viewers for a key episode that may have finally introduced us to the titular mother. Did you catch the hint about how Stella went to a St. Patrick's Day party? And how charming was Ted's "two-minute date" (all shot in one take, no less)? To quote Barney, it... was... legendary! For another take on How I Met Your Mother, read the Roush Dispatch.Poll: Do you want Sarah to be the Mother? Britney Spears by Gregg DeGuire/WireImage.com
And now, a word (or 42) from How I Met Your Mother cocreator Craig Thomas on the week's biggest TV headline, Britney Spears' upcoming visit to the CBS sitcom. "We're thrilled to have Britney Spears on the show," Thomas raves. "Britney is an exciting new talent and we can't wait for the world to meet her. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check out this 'Internet' thing everyone's talking about."Before Thomas stole away to the nearest Atari 800 and dial-up modem, however, he also weighed in on the casting of Scrubs' cutie Sarah Chalke as Ted's dermy doc, Stella. "We couldn't be happier to have Sarah Chalke joining us," he says. "Not only is Sarah smart, funny and charming, but we already know she looks damn good in a labcoat." True dat!So, what's your latest thinking? Too much ado about guest-casting? Or is the Britney-Sarah tag team just the buzz-builder the show needs to climb off the renewal bubble once and for all?Use our Online Video Guide to meet up with some Mother clips.R...

Alicia Silverstone by Jordan Strauss/ WireImage.com, Sarah Chalke by Justin Lubin/NBC Universal Photo
Britney Spears' havoc-wreaking cameo on How I Met Your Mother has already claimed its first victim. A Mother insider confirms that Alicia Silverstone who was slated to appear in a multi-episode arc as Ted's dermatologist/lover has dropped out and will be replaced by Scrubs' Sarah Chalke. Pink Is the New Blog reports that Silverstone bowed out because her reps (understandably) feared she would be overshadowed by Spears, who, per my sources, will play an assistant to the dermatologist now being portrayed by Chalke. As a result, I'm hearing Mother bosses Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have reconceived the female doc character. Originally slated to appear in multiple episodes, she'll now be in just one mostly because that's all Chalke's schedule will allow. The diminished screen time would also seem to eliminate any hope there was of her being Ted's future yellow-umbrella-carrying wife (aka the "Mother").But Mother still has big plans for Silverstone. "[Bays and Thoma...

And this is the Scrubs weve seen a little too much of of lategood enough to watch but only intermittently or fitfully funny and perhaps not quite seemlessly mixing the frequent tragedy of medical life with the various sorts of comedy offered upA recap can be pretty quick on this episode since the A B and C plotlines are pretty thin in outline Elliot faces an ethical dilemma when she learns that one of her private-practice patients dying of ALS has landed in the hospital in a suicide attempt Elliot is unsure as to whether to make the authorities and her patients home-healthcare nurse aware of this or to allow the patient to die on her own terms JD suggests she should tell for no better reason than that Elliot tends to let such things get under her skin by episodes end Elliot has decided to keep her patients secret having accidentally let the dying woman know how more effectively to drug herself to death Meanwhile JD having discovered how insanely compe

Well like a baseball or beisbol team sometimes a great series needs a rebuilding season My Identity Crisis still wasnt up to the heights of most previous years of Scrubs but it was the funniest episode of the season so far and it will doWe begin with a dream sequence Carla Judy Reyes is making out with her husband Turk Donald Faison in a hospital bed at Sacred Heart Turk pulls out a restraint and binds her wrist to the bedframe but the prospect of kinky fun is dampened by the sudden appearance of JD Zach Braff and then Elliot Sarah Chalke who are there to murder Carla allowing Turk and JD to pal around endlessly and Elliot to steal and raise Carlas daughter Izzi What turns out to be the most disturbing aspect of the nightmare for Carla however when she awakens is that its the first dream she remembers having in English rather than in Spanish Meanwhile Cox John C McGinley is informed by his partner Jordan Christa Miller too absent of late

Well despite JD Zach Braff finally being told by nearly everyone he knows that he needs to grow up and Coxs useful if revenge-driven demand that Elliot recognize that she is starving herself dangerously this was the frothiest episode of the season so far And yet while pleasant it also managed to be the least funny even given that it was paced like the most like typical Scrubs episodes of past seasonsAs part of NBCs Green Week stunt the episode begins with a discussion between hospital lawyer Ted Sam Lloyd sadly underused this season till this episode and the Janitor over Teds relative eco-friendliness versus the Janitors tendency to leave his van running all day so that its air-conditioned for his drive home Ted shows the Janitor Al Gores augmented-lecture documentary An Inconvenient Truth and the latter is inspired to ask Kelso if he can become the ecology officer for the hospital Assured that it will cost Sacred Heart no money Kelso agrees just to ge

Another pretty solid episode still not Scrubs at its comic best and still at least as much about the serious subtexts of the series as about the blackouts and fantasy sequencesKim Elizabeth Banks is about to give birth and JD Zach Braff is ready for everything except for openly admitting to Kim that he doesnt love her Meanwhile Cox John C McGinley looks for someone competent to give his infant daughter a shot unwilling to give it to her himself for fear that shell associate him with pain Carla Judy Reyes cant do itsince shes enraged at Turk Donald Faison for his stubborn insistence on playing a console video game to its conclusion or at least for his obliviousness to her need as great as his to be something other than a parent sometimes and to a much lesser extent to his obliviousness to her ability to play the game better than either her husband or the Janitor Neil Flynn Even Kelso Ken Jenkins proves his worth as a parent while drun
