Exclusive: Crystal Chappell Dishes Her Newest Web Series, Beacon Hill

She scored outrageous success with her landmark internet series Venice, now Emmy-winning actress-producer Crystal Chappell (Guiding Light, The Bold and the Beautiful) is about to bring us another web potboiler, Beacon Hill. The series, which begins streaming March 5, is set against the cutthroat world of Massachusetts politics and features lots of lesbian steam and a cast of daytime greats, including Sarah Brown (General Hospital), Alicia Minshew and Ricky Paull Goldin (All My Children), Tina Sloan and Ron Raines (Guiding Light), Melissa Archer, Jessica Morris and John-Paul Lavoisier (One Life to Live), Scott Bryce (As the World Turns) and Louise Sorel (Days of Our Lives). The Best in Soaps 2010

Best Soap: The Bold and the Beautiful

How can one show be both gloriously uplifting and dirty as hell? That's the marvel of B&B! After back-to-back Emmy wins as best soap, this CBS serial should make it three in a row thanks to its daring lung-cancer plot involving big mama Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) who nearly chose death over life. Episodes with Stephanie visiting the homeless on L.A.'s Skid Row, and giving them a chance to tell their life stories, made for important and transcendent TV. read more

Daytime Emmy Watch: Fearless Predictions

Only one thing is certain about the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards: My predictions will suck and as always I will blame it on those crazy blue-ribbon judges! Still, after re-watching each of the episodes submitted by the soap nominees, I can't resist my yearly exercise in embarrassment. So here goes... read more

Sarah Joy Brown Goes for Daytime Emmy History

Will she set a Daytime Emmy record? Sarah Joy Brown is a frontrunner in the lead actress race for her role as crazy-ass mob moll — and axe victim — Claudia Zacchara on General Hospital. She already has three Emmys as GH's original Carly, one in supporting, two as younger actress. If she wins again on June 27 (9/8c, CBS), she'll be the first to score a statue in all three performance categories. The bodacious Brown is already laying the groundwork for a 2011 nod for her current role as lovelorn Agnes Jones on The Bold and the Beautiful. Expect things to amp up June 17 when Aggie, who carries a secret torch for Nick (Jack Wagner), definitively learns what she's been suspecting for weeks — that Nick's wife Bridget (Ashley Jones) is pregnant by her loverboy Owen (Brandon Beemer). And, just one episode later, Aggie blabs the news to Nick! TV Guide Magazine spoke with Brown about the fine art of hell-raising... read more

General Hospital Leads Daytime Emmy Nominations

General Hospital nabbed a leading 18 Daytime Emmy Award nominations Wednesday as it goes for its 11th outstanding drama series trophy.

The ABC soap, which has won outstanding drama series more times than any other show, will vie for the top honor against All My Children, defending champion The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. General Hospital last won the award in 2008.

I, Claudia: Sarah Brown Surveys Her General Hospital Future

Last winter, Sarah Joy Brown was granted an opportunity presented to few actors (Leigh McCloskey excluded), to create a second, non-related character on a single daytime drama. Having first originated the role of General Hospital's Carly, for the past year Brown has been stirring a new, more dangerous kind of excitement as crime queen Claudia Zacchara. So much has the multiple Emmy winner enjoyed this new ride that she recently signed on for another year. TVGuide.com invited Brown to ponder what's ahead for Sonny's sometimes inconvenient wife of convenience.

TVGuide.com: Sarah Brown is never one to take her career moves lightly. What was important to you in deciding on another year with General Hospital?
Sarah Brown: Re-signing for me this time around was dependent on several major things ... read more
