  • Episode Recap: The Becoming | Grey's Anatomy | 5/9/2008
“It was not a good day,” according to Dr. Wyatt (Amy Madigan), but I’m inclined to disagree. While Meredith may be fooling herself into thinking she can accept that “Derek is with Rose,” Derek clearly got a dose of reality when he slept with Rose and found himself only thinking about Meredith. Cleary these two are meant to be together, but I have to admit, the longing and anticipation is driving me crazy! In truth though, the angst also creates some of my favorite... read more
  • Episode Recap: Piece of My Heart | Grey's Anatomy | 5/2/2008
“Reunited and it feels so good!” Yes, it was almost like old times when Addison showed up tonight. If she hadn’t had to spend so much time “catching up” on all of the soapy Seattle Grace details, it might have felt like she had never left. And I almost allowed myself to be tricked into thinking she might return to Washington when the Chief suggested he could start her paperwork (despite knowing that Private Practice is fully expected to return in the fall). So, I... read more
  • Grey's Anatomy's Cristina: Where Were We? | TV Show Previews | 4/23/2008
Our series of Grey's refreshers continues with a look at the exhausting love affair between Dr. Yang and…Dr. Yang's career. The Couple: Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) and her surgical career Where We Were: When Cristina was jilted at the altar because of Isaiah Washington's off-camera homophobic slurs (er…her inability to commit to Dr. Burke), she was visibly shaken in the weeks that followed. However, a visit from her would've-been mother-in-law quickly made her realize her commitment to... read more
  • Exclusive: Jackson's Grey's Stint Fades to Black | Ausiello Report | 2/22/2008
It appears Joshua Jackson's Grey's Anatomy gig has ended before it began. And once again, the writers' strike is to blame. To quickly recap, Grey's announced last fall that the ex-Dawson's Creeker would be joining the cast for a multi-episode arc as a doctor and, as I would later report, a love interest for Cristina. Unfortunately, just weeks before he was scheduled to shoot his first episode, the writers went on strike and Jackson's stint, just like the TV biz itself, was put on hold. Cut to... read more
  • Episode Recap: "Lay Your Hands on Me" | Grey's Anatomy | 1/11/2008
After a long absence, Grey's Anatomy returned tonight with what could be the last glimpse we have at Seattle Grace for a while...and they did not disappoint. In a change from the norm, Bailey talked us through tonight's episode and from the moment she stated, "God created man and it's been downhill ever since," we knew that it was going to be a night unlike any other.Derek and Mark started things off by taking what looked like a light-hearted nature walk through the woods. Their travels... read more
  • It's Good to Be Scared | Grey's Anatomy | 12/7/2007
Episode Recap: Crash Into Me (Part Two) December 6, 2007What a night! Mer finally tells Derek that she doesn't want him to date other people and he goes and locks lips with Rose at the hospital! Shonda couldn't have planned that cliffhanger any better herself, because tonight's episode marks the last new episode available this month. All I can say is, I really hope that Derek doesn't choose Rose over Meredith. It's true, Mer was slow to open up to him, but how can he walk away from her now?... read more
  • Loose Ends | Grey's Anatomy | 11/23/2007
Hi, everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying some time off this week... ABC treated us to a brand new episode of Grey's Anatomy last night and I still need to catch up on the latest drama at Seattle Grace. So, feel free to post your thoughts here and I'll be sure to write up a full recap soon.Episode Recap: Crash Into You (Part One)Sorry for the delay, everyone! I wish I could have watched this episode sooner, but better late than never. So, let's get to recapping... Watching Cristina "dance... read more
  • Just Like Old Times | Grey's Anatomy | 11/16/2007
Episode Recap: "Forever Young" (November 15, 2007)Tonight, Bailey took charge and let the residents know there was a new boss in town, but she soon lost her drive when an old crush, Marcus (D.B. Woodside), appeared in the ER. So, while I was excited to see the old Bailey laying down the law early on, I was equally disappointed to see her turn to mush for a guy who obviously used her all throughout high school. And so we had our theme for the night---Seattle Grace is just like high... read more
  • The Chief Gets a New Girlfriend | Grey's Anatomy | 11/9/2007
Episode Recap: "Physical Attraction...Chemical Reaction" (November 8th, 2007)"Chemistry. Either you've got it, or you don't." And tonight, Gizzie fizzled! I thought it would bring me happiness to see this pairing finally come to an end, but it left me kind of sad instead. Here were two people who went to great lengths to be together, only to find that the thrill was gone, once the moment of truth came. And in the wake of all that drama, a marriage was destroyed and reputations have been... read more
  • Struck Out: Grey's Anatomy Cast Calls It Quits | Today's News: Our Take | 11/8/2007
The stars of Grey's Anatomy on Wednesday took their lunch breaks outside with picketers and told them they were just about finished shooting until the strike is resolved. "We're supposed to be going until the end of May," T.R. Knight noted, "and right now our last shooting day will be Tuesday or Wednesday." Added Sandra Oh: "This matter is way too important not only for our writers, but ultimately everyone who makes movies, everyone who makes entertainment here in this town and again for the... read more
  • A Gentleman's Evening | Grey's Anatomy | 11/2/2007
Episode Recap: "Kung Fu Fighting" (November 1st, 2007)Well, tonight wasn't exactly the evening I had anticipated at Seattle Grace, but it was still a fun night. The highlight of which, was every scene shared by Derek and Mark, as they tried to decipher what the Chief meant by "a gentleman's evening." It did sound dirty and with three eligible bachelors in attendance, it certainly had the potential to involve tassels. So, I can't help but wonder how it might have ended up, if Dr. Hahn had not... read more
  • Ask Matt | 11/2/2007
While I agree with your unrelenting support of Friday Night Lights, I do have to disagree with your decision to single Minka Kelly out as the "weak link" in the cast. It seems like it's become a trend to single out actresses (oddly more so than actors) who are cast in unpopular storylines or as unpopular characters. I don't love Minka's storylines on FNL as much as I do some of the others, but I find that her performance in that unpopular role meets the high standard of the other young actors... read more
  • We Made It Through This Day | Grey's Anatomy | 10/26/2007
Episode Recap: "Haunt You Everyday"Why should Izzie direct all of her questions to Bailey now? "Because she’s been sleeping with my husband," Callie announced, in that oh-so-matter-of-fact tone that bubbled up unexpectedly. And just like that, this episode was off and running! So, tonight was Halloween, and as we all know, freaky things tend to happen on this holiday — and weird happenings were not in short supply at Seattle Grace. First, there was the guy who sliced off his finger... read more
  • Katie Holmes Not Pregnant, and More Love Notes | Today's News: Our Take | 10/19/2007
A spokesperson for Katie Holmes tells Us that despite recent puffy-bloused photos and typical tabloid "speculation," Tom Cruise's missus "is not pregnant".... Virtually everybody from Lindsay Lohan's camp, Papa Michael included, is coming forth to rebuff a rumor that the recently rehabbed starlet is betrothed to snowboarder Riley Giles. • Forgive and Forget | Grey's Anatomy | 10/19/2007
Episode Recap: "The Heart of the Matter""I forgive you." Did I hear that right? Callie, calmly telling George that he made a mistake by sleeping with Izzie, but that she was willing to forgive him because of their wedding vows? Thank god she changed her mind by the end of the episode, because I'm not sure I could have forgiven Callie for letting Gizzie off the hook so easily! Not after everything we've been through in this whole messy love triangle! Though something tells me we won't have... read more
  • Episode Recap: "Let the Truth Sting" | Grey's Anatomy | 10/12/2007
When the episode opened with Alex and Lexie checking each other out in the elevator, I thought we were going to see the two of them getting cozy tonight. That was so not the case. Instead, Alex got tied down with the "old intern," Dr. Norman Shales (Edward Herrmann), who meant well but managed to get in the way more than he helped. Sticking with the "old dog, new tricks" theme, Dr. Sloan and Dr. Webber decided to take their chances with a radical procedure in order to prove that they still had... read more
  • Know When to Walk Away | Grey's Anatomy | 10/5/2007
Episode Recap: "Love/Addiction"Disbelief. That's how I would describe my reaction (and the look on Izzie's face), during the first five minutes of tonight's episode. George loves Izzie, that's all there is to it, and now he can't wait to share the news with Callie! It's almost unbelievable. Especially considering the lengths George went to prior to tonight just to avoid Izzie and any related talk about their recent indiscretion. Now it's almost like he can't wait to shout it out to the world!... read more
  • Oh, Mama: A Great New Grey's | Roush Dispatch | 10/4/2007
If you don't like tonight's first-rate episode of Grey's Anatomy, which fires on about as many cylinders as possible (humor and emotion coexisting wonderfully), then you should probably face the fact that you simply don't like Grey's anymore, if you ever did. Diahann Carroll, terrific as the departed Burke's visiting mom, hovers around Seattle Grace this week as a much-needed reality check and conscience for the various characters: including Meredith, who could always use a good dressing-down... read more
  • Adjust Your Expectations | Grey's Anatomy | 9/28/2007
Episode Recap: "A Change is Gonna Come"Watching the season premiere tonight was like welcoming an old friend back into your home. It was so easy to slip back into Grey's world and get caught up in all of the amazing moments that make this show so much fun to watch. And while I expected the night to start off on a somber note (by addressing the Cristina/Burke fallout), I was pleasantly surprised by the way the attendees paid tribute to Bailey, by giving their new interns the same exact first-day... read more
  • Lights Out at the Emmys | Roush Dispatch | 7/19/2007
Remember how Charlie Brown used to end up on his back every time he went to kick the football after Lucy pulled it away? Well, that was me, in the pre-dawn of Thursday morning at the TV Academy building in North Hollywood, as the first Emmy category (for best drama series) was read aloud. Amid a gaggle of impatient media crews and anxious publicists, I once again felt sucker-punched by the cluelessly inexplicable whims of the Emmy nomination process. (Go here for a list of nominees.)The... read more
  • May 17, 2007: Didn't We Almost Have It All | Grey's Anatomy | 5/18/2007
I can't decide what I was most surprised about since I thought there were multiple shockers in this season's finale episode. So I will make a list of things that I did not see coming:— I did not expect Burke to call off the wedding. If anyone was going to put a stop to it, I thought it would've been Cristina. Apparently, Burke could tell Cristina just wasn't ready.— I did not expect George to be the only intern that didn't pass the exam. Alex would've been more predictable.— I... read more
  • Seen and Heard at the Upfronts | First Look: Hottest Fall TV | 5/16/2007
Daly's Primetime PracticeWhile Tim Daly is excited about his new show Private Practice, he can't help but be a little skeptical. Can you blame him? The last three series he's been on — The Fugitive, Eyes, The Nine — all got nixed during their first seasons. "I approach everything with a healthy amount of optimism," he said while hanging out at the Lucky Suite, where he picked up some Cosabella lingerie and True Religion jeans for his wife and daughter. "I just don't want to get my... read more
  • May 10, 2007: Testing 1-2-3 | Grey's Anatomy | 5/11/2007
How many of you were sitting there waiting for somebody to ask Addison how L.A. was? Almost the entire hour went by and Sloan finally asked her: "How was L.A.?" Addison replied with, "L.A. was different." And different would be the perfect way to describe the opinions expressed in the comments section last week. I thank you for your honesty, but most importantly, for respecting the opinions of others (including mine). Hey, different strokes for different folks, right? Now, onto this... read more
  • May 3, 2007: The Other Side of This Life | Grey's Anatomy | 5/4/2007
Raise your hand if you're already hooked. Shonda, you have just sold me on Grey's 2.0, or what you are currently planning on calling it: Private Practice. I can't imagine ABC not picking the show up for the fall. To make this easier for me to write, but more importantly, to give it a more reader-friendly approach, I'd like to split this in two. I'll get to my comments on the very well-executed Kate Walsh pilot later. First, let's talk about Grey's...I. GREY'S ANATOMYWhen I heard that Meredith... read more
  • April 26, 2007: Desire | Grey's Anatomy | 4/27/2007
This episode effectively set the tone for next week's two-hour spin-off that will establish Kate Walsh's potential new series wherein Addison skips town for L.A. after getting Sleepless in Seattle. Poor gal couldn't get a break. First, McSteamy tells her he broke their no-sex agreement because he figured out that he wasn't the one for her (it didn't help when he saw Addison and Alex come out of the closet in more ways than one). Then, just when she figured she had a new boy toy after their... read more
  • April 19, 2007: Time After Time | Grey's Anatomy | 4/20/2007
After a four-week wait, I was totally psyched to finally see a new episode of Grey's. I woke up in such a good mood Thursday morning since I was finally able to put away my Pepto-Bismol the night before (like a lot of you, I’ve been suffering from a bad case of Sanjayarrhea). So I was not disappointed in this "past coming back to haunt you"-focused episode — especially how they handled the Izzie/George awkwardness (I'll get to that recent past situation in a bit). First things first:... read more
  • Random Thoughts, Starring an Odd Sandra Oh | TV Matt'rs | 3/30/2007
    • Someone out there may be wondering why my Today's News blog hasn't come within a country mile of this Donald Trump/Vince McMahon/"Who will shave their head?" nonsense. I think the last word of the previous sentence says it all.• Speaking of the Donald.... I get in the mail the other day a (seemingly) hand-addressed invitation with a Trump return address. "Finally," I thought for a moment. "My years of steadfastly standing by The Apprentice and Q&Aing the castoffs has not gone... read more
  • March 22, 2007: My Favorite Mistake | Grey's Anatomy | 3/23/2007
Last week, I was glad to discover that I was not alone in my "thumbs down" feelings about George and Izzie hooking up. Seemed like no matter whom I spoke to about it, and as evidenced by the majority of the comments here, the overall reaction was "ick!" So I was happy to see the word "mistake" included in the title of this week's episode. I got my wish that George wasn't going to remember any of it. Initially. Great "Ohmygod, I left my baby on the bus!" moment tonight when the hungover George... read more
  • March 15, 2007: Scars and Souvenirs | Grey's Anatomy | 3/16/2007
When Michael Ausiello teased us that one of six possible plot twists would happen in tonight's episode, I was oh-so-hoping it wasn't going to be the "Izzie and George will hook up" option. Ugh! Not that I myself haven't done stupid things while being overly intoxicated — haven't we all? Well... if the two best friends had to end up naked in the same bed (we don't yet have actual evidence that any sexual acts occurred), I'm just glad alcohol was involved. Will either of them remember the... read more
  • February 22, 2007: Some Kind of Miracle | Grey's Anatomy | 2/23/2007
Where do I start? First, a little self-indulgence. This magnificent episode — part three of a three-parter – aired on my birthday. So, Shonda darlin', thanks for the beyond-awesome birthday present! OK, enough of that. How fabulous was tonight? We knew in our hearts that Meredith would live. I enjoyed reading the plethora of comments the last few weeks, some predicting that "if Meredith dies, maybe she'll continue as narrator à la Mary Alice on Desperate Housewives?” Nope.... read more
  • February 15, 2007: Drowning on Dry Land | Grey's Anatomy | 2/16/2007
I don't know about you, but it seems like all I've thought about all week is Meredith floating in the water. Oh, sure, Anna Nicole entered my thoughts. Idol mania is starting up again. Oscar fever is abounding. But I just could not get that little girl's face — her blank stare — out of my mind. Are you with me here? Oh. My. God. I fricking love this show. Let’s first talk about that ending! After Michael Ausiello and others let the cat out of the bag that Denny (Jeffrey Dean... read more
  • February 1, 2007: Wishin' and Hopin' | Grey's Anatomy | 2/2/2007
I enjoyed reading everyone's predictions last week regarding whether Cristina would say yes to Burke and whether Callie would say yes to George. I loved that we got one answer right away and the other one at the very end — George and Callie had gotten hitched in Las Vegas and Cristina gave Burke a "yes" under one condition: "I'm not wearing a ring." When Cristina put the ring on the counter at the end and told Burke: "I don't do rings," I was thinking she was rejecting his proposal —... read more
  • January 25, 2007: Great Expectations | Grey's Anatomy | 1/26/2007
After seeing the coming attractions last week, in which the announcer emphasized the "last five minutes," I had — just like the title of tonight's episode — "Great Expectations," and I was not disappointed. Two of our favorite gals were proposed to simultaneously, thanks to effective editing, and neither of them gave their answers... at least, not until next week. Will Cristina say yes to Burke? Will Callie say yes to George? Can't see why either of them would say no. But the last... read more
  • January 18, 2007: Six Days, Part 2 | Grey's Anatomy | 1/19/2007
How many of you were a complete mess while watching this episode, like I was? Out. Of. Control. Hey — it's not a shocker when Grey's Anatomy makes you cry — I'm used to getting teary-eyed at least once per episode. But multiple times throughout the hour — that only happens once or twice per season for me. Wow. Can someone please give T.R. Knight an Emmy, Golden Globe or SAG nomination? To the best of my knowledge, he has never been individually nominated for any TV acting award,... read more
  • January 11, 2007: Six Days, Part 1 | Grey's Anatomy | 1/12/2007
The title of tonight's episode was "Six Days." But it's been a long six weeks since we've had the privilege of a new episode. I've missed my Grey Thursdays. Do you agree with me that it was worth the wait? First things first — it's about frickin' time Izzie deposited that check! I loved George saying to her, after the check fell off the fridge yet again: "I just dropped 8.7 million dollars on the floor. You need to deposit that check!" I imagined hearing millions of homes screaming: "Yes!"... read more

  • Globes-Trotting: Following the Buzz | Roush Dispatch | 12/14/2006
The best thing you can say about the Golden Globes nominations is that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association isn't afraid about welcoming new kids to the party, especially if they've made a little noise along the way.On the plus side, that means shining some love on deserving candidates like America Ferrera and Ugly Betty, a show and a performance that would seem tailor-made to the Foreign Press's presumed concerns about diversity in entertainment. • November 30, 2006: Don't Stand So Close to Me | Grey's Anatomy | 12/1/2006
Last season, back in April, I made a comment that I was officially old since Mare Winningham was playing a soon-to-be grandmother. That's because, even though I know she was Oscar-nominated for Georgia, I will always think of Mare as Wendy, the gal that Billy (Rob Lowe) discovered was wearing a girdle in St. Elmo's Fire. Are you with me here? But it was good to see her back tonight as Susan Grey, the current wife of Meredith's dad, Thatcher, and the timing made sense since Susan and Thatcher's... read more

Hours after the effects of the tryptophan from the fabulous Thanksgiving dinner I had with friends wore off, I gave thanks for a new episode of Grey's. This episode was anything but a turkey. How many of you were screaming "yes!" to the TV as soon as you heard Sandra Oh's voice in the opening narration rather than Ellen Pompeo's? Not that I dislike Meredith Grey being the show's narrator — it is called Grey’s Anatomy. But it's a nice diversion when someone else takes over for a... read more

Even though she wasn't ready for it, it got her mind off her mourning.— It's about time... that Richard... read more

Somehow I knew the guys' camping trip was going to be a disaster. But at least it was a learning experience for everyone. George figured out that Burke's got a shaky hand and Callie slept with Sloan (thanks to Alex's big mouth). Alex learned that George has quite a temper. Webber discovered that bartender Joe (Steven W. Bailey) is in a loving relationship with a man named Walter (Jack Yang), which made Webber miss his wife Adele. Walter learned to never again go on a camping trip with straight... read more

I bet all you Meredith-haters screamed "Yes!" when Cristina said: "Everything is not about you, Meredith." I would've laughed harder had they not used it in the coming attractions and promos, but either way, that was a good line regardless of how you feel about Meredith. I personally enjoyed Meredith tonight in this commitment-themed episode — especially in the closing scene when she finished Derek's sentence by suggesting he "take some space" and clear his head, as if she understood,... read more
  • October 19, 2006: Oh, the Guilt | Grey's Anatomy | 10/20/2006
As the episode's title hinted, overcoming guilt was certainly the ongoing theme tonight. The person most affected by her surrounding friends and fellow doctors was Izzie. My favorite two "Izzie influencers" were Burke and Webber. They both FTF'd her (Friends Tell Friends) — first Burke told her: "You quit. You quit being a surgeon. You have two good hands and you aren't using them. Feel guilty about that." And then I thought it was quite effective when Webber, trying to make Izzie feel... read more

The very best episodes of Grey's Anatomy make you laugh and cry all at once, and this was one of those. Seconds after I was crying while watching Izzie listen to Denny's phone message to his parents, I laughed out loud at Callie propositioning McSteamy. All together now: Shut up! Mark Sloan aka McSteamy to Callie: "Can I buy you a drink?" Callie: "Only if you have it delivered to my hotel room," as she walks out of the bar, then turns around all sexy: "You comin'?" You go, girl! She breaks it... read more
  • October 5, 2006: Sometimes a Fantasy | Grey's Anatomy | 10/6/2006
As the title of the episode indicates, "Sometimes a Fantasy" is an effective way to open an episode of this show. So funny to see the three of them (supposedly) naked in bed together — smiling Meredith in the middle of Finn and Derek. This dating thing was a nice way for Ellen Pompeo to finally get a chance to show off that smile of hers, after several seasons of sorrow. I liked seeing Meredith as a giddy girl declaring that "Dating is fun!" and telling Derek and then Finn: "I had a dream... read more

First of all, how exciting was the news last Friday morning that Grey's beat CSI in the ratings? Never thought it would happen since CSI has been such a juggernaut ever since it moved to Thursdays from Fridays years ago. CSI (along with Survivor) caused CBS to take away the "Must-see TV" title away from NBC as far as Thursdays were concerned. CSI for me has always stood for Can't Seem Interested or Can't Stand It (and before a bunch of you tell me you like both shows, that's fine – I'm... read more

I f---ing love this show. There -- I said it. And to use the title of the episode, "Time Has Come Today" for all us Grey's fans to rejoice -- we finally saw our season premiere! I want to say right away that I really enjoyed all the flashbacks -- and not flashbacks to scenes we've already witnessed ("previously on Grey's Anatomy"). It had a sort of Lost feel to it with the backstories -- not completely Lost-like since most of the scenes were things they've alluded to before, but it was great to... read more
