Can a Monster House Crush Disney's Cars?

Are Disney's cutesy Cars about to get crushed by a monster — no, not truck — but three-bedroom colonial? In theaters Friday, Monster House uses cutting-edge motion-capture technology to computer-animate the tale of DJ (Hannah Montana's Mitchel Musso), a barely pubescent lad who comes to realize that the house across the street has just as volatile a temper as its owner, Old Man Nebbercracker (Steve Buscemi). DJ conspires with best bud Chowder and a local lass to expose the dwelling's sinister foundation, lead read more

Closer's J.K. Simmons Is Up for a Fight

Are things about to heat up for ex-lovers Will Pope and Brenda Leigh Johnson on TNT's The Closer (Mondays at 9 pm/ET)? Sensing that an interdepartmental romance might be brewing sometime soon, Q&A'd the assistant police chief's portrayer, J.K. J.K. Simmons:

It's as plain as each show's theme song: "For the Love of Money" versus "Sweet Dreams." Martha's folks are in it for the love of the game. Jim helped me to see this clearly, because he's on the wrong show. In Jim, Martha has an outwardly ambitious candidate. On the challenges and in the conference room, Jim works himself into a lathered frenzy that, in my opinion, has him teetering on the edge of some sort of attack. Despite his fervid displays to the contrary, I don't believe Jim truly wants to win the position. Does he even realize what Martha is offering? Although he's on the creative team, I've yet to see Jim do anything of the kind. I smell a rat. Could Martha have a Jonny Fairplay on her hands? A candidate on the show not to collect the final prize, but to make a name for himself while the lights are sh read more
