After being expelled from Sarah Lawrence College for bad grades, he studied acting at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Connecticut.
Made acting debut in the off-Broadway comedy Album.
Made his film debut in Tempest, director Paul Mazursky's 1982 updating of Shakespeare's The Tempest, playing Molly Ringwald's would-be-boyfriend.
Appeared with his father, Jason Robards Jr., in the 1988 Michael J. Fox screen drama Bright Lights, Big City; and with his mother, Lauren Bacall, in the 1994 Robert Altman satire Ready to Wear.
