Majored in ecology and evolutionary biology at Princeton University; wrote his senior thesis about mating preferences of the Eastern Mosquitofish.
Wanted to be a professional baseball player while growing up and played collegiate baseball at Princeton.
Was named one of People magazine's Top 50 Bachelors in 2002 and one of the magazine's Sexy Men of the Week in 2010.
Much of his work evokes vintage eras: his roles on 1960s-set Mad Men and American Dreams; his appearance in J.Crew's spring 2011 catalog, which channeled Old Hollywood glamour.
