Britney Spears is battling defamation lawsuit- filed by her ex-confidante Sam Lutfi, who claims that Britney's mother's book was riddled with false statements about him. He says he was just trying to save Britney while she was on meth and other drugs. TMZ reports that Brit's lawyers will shoot down any claims and reject that Sam was actually the pop star's manager. They say Sam was fame hungry, and pushed drugs on Britney in order to isolate and manipulate her.
Britney Spears is in a court battle with her ex-confidante, Sam Lutfi, who claims he was Brit's manager. But the head Britney's label testified to help set the record straight on the pop star's end. Barry Weiss of Jive Record said, 'I had never heard of this guy before. He was a gofer- someone who has menial tasks, like a personal assistant.' Sam sued Britney for a percentage of a year's worth of the singer's earnings- AND sued her parents for alleged assault and libel.
Britney Spears' former confidante was made a scapegoat for her mental breakdown despite efforts to keep the singer from using drugs, his attorney told a jury Thursday in a case against the pop superstar's parents and conservators.
Attorney Joseph Schleimer told the panel that Sam Lutfi was trying to help the singer but lost control in a series of events that led to her being hospitalized and placed under a court-ordered conservator.
Former manager Sam Lutfi claims Britney Spears' parents defamed, libeled and cheated him out of millions in a battle for control of the pop star and her career.
A book written by Spears' mother painted Lutfi as a 'predator' and a 'Svengali' who kept Spears drugged and isolated her from her family so he could control her, his defamation lawsuit against the Spears family alleges.
