Hondo and his men go underwater to catch a scuba-diving ring of jewel robbers suspected of committing two homicides and of holding female hostages in "Deadly Tide," a special two-hour presentation of "S.W.A.T." Christopher George, Sal Mineo, Lesley Warren and Don Stroud guest as a quartet of dangerous criminals who have pulled a series of jewelry store holdups in which Miss Warren, using various disguises, poses as a customer taken hostage. During one holdup, a store manager is fatally wounded. With S.W.A.T. in pursuit, the gang heads for the harbor district and disappears into the water. "Deadly Tide," which also guest stars Susan Dey, marks the first straight dramatic role of veteran comic Phil Silvers, playing an old waterfront character who assists Hondo in tracking down the fugitives.

Sal Mineo guest stars as an escaped mass murderer who reassembles his followers in a plot to punish everyone responsible for his arrest and conviction, including S.W.A.T. leader "Hondo" Harrelson in "Coven of Killers." Three members of Joey Hopper's "family," including newcomer Judy Collins, engineer Hopper's escape from a prison's hospital ward. After executing an assistant District Attorney, Hopper sends a recorded message to "Hondo" that he will be the next victim and that he also intends to punish the jury that found him guilty of other homicides. Russ Collins, owner of an underground newspaper that has published sympathetic articles about Hopper, refuses to admit knowledge of Hopper's whereabouts until "Hondo" informs Collins that his daughter, Judy, has become a member of the treacherous cult.
