Clemens Tells 60 Minutes He "Never" Used Steroids

Roger Clemens' first interview since being named in George Mitchell’s report on steroid use in baseball will air Sunday on 60 Minutes (Jan. 6, 7 pm/ET, CBS). It will come as little surprise that the pitching superstar says he has “never” taken performance-enhancing drugs. He tells 60 Minutes’ Mike Wallace that his former personal trainer Brian McNamee only injected him with “lidocaine and B-12. It’s for my joints, and B-12 I still take today.” (Lidocaine is a painkiller commonly used as a local anesthetic.) McNamee told former senator Mitchell that he injected Clemens with steroids and HGH (human growth hormone). Roger Clemens will grant his first interview since being linked to steroid use to 60 Minutes in two weeks. The star Major League Baseball pitcher, named in former Senator George Mitchell's investigation into performance-enhancing drugs in the sport, will defend himself on the CBS newsmag's Jan. 6 episode. On his web site, Clemens posted a video Sunday (watch it here) in which he said, "Let me be clear: The answer is no, I did not use steroids, human growth hormone, and I've never done so." read more
