In this charming fantasy, three wealthy old friends find themselves without company on Christmas Eve. To make the evening less lonely, they each toss a wallet out the window of their extravagant Manhattan townhouse, hoping to find a few honest passersby for their dinner party. Would-be crooner James Houston (Richard Carlson) and warm-hearted working girl Jean Lawrence (Jean Parker) find two of the billfolds and promptly return them. The young guests are immediately attracted to each other, and the elderly philanthropists do all they can to spark a romance between the pair, creating a lasting friendship amongst the entire group. When the three men are tragically killed in a plane crash, their spirits linger in order to ensure Jean and James remain together.
