Daniel races to the infirmary with Jennifer’s heart, and together with Melanie, he tries to save Jennifer’s life by reattaching her heart. But after they take Jennifer off the heart-lung machine, Jennifer flat lines. Bo and Hope almost kiss, and then learn from Carly about Jennifer’s situation. Carly and Hope pray for Daniel to save Jennifer. Meanwhile, Bo confronts Ben and Lee about selling body parts, Lee having been caught at the infirmary. Ben is devastated to learn Lee had taken out Jennifer’s heart. He tells Bo he can save Jennifer. Bo and Abe tell Ben to forget it. Ben’s sorry Jennifer got involved – he truly did care about her. Rafe awakens to see he’s behind bars and EJ and Stefano are holding him prisoner. He wonders what’s going on and fears they’ve done something to Sami, but they assure him he’s the one they’re after. Meanwhile, Sami meets imposter Rafe for the first time, building to their first kiss. “Rafe” passes the test. At the same time, the real Rafe vows to get back to Sami. Chad comes to see Stefano, and feels rebuffed when EJ shows up needing to talk to their father. Chad goes to Lexie and says she was wrong about her father wanting Chad in his life – Stefano wanted nothing to do with him. Lexie notes that doesn’t sound like Stefano.

Tiffany has frightening, recurring dreams about a party in which a woman confined to a wheelchair falls down a staircase. When a caretaker relates the circumstances involving the death of Burke's first wife, Madeline, exactly as Tiffany had dreamed, the Angels suspect foul play. One day before Burke's lavish Halloween party, Erica injures herself and is confined to a wheelchair. Cliff is hounded by racketeer George Harper to pay an enormous debt. Cliff covers it, using the estate as collateral. More mysterious happenings lead the Angels to believe that Madeline's spirit is haunting the place and trying to speak to them. They search a dark and frightening passageway. Tiffany discovers evidence implying that Cliff deliberately killed Madeline for her money. They assume he will kill Erica too. At the party at the proper moment, Cliff pushes Erica down the staircase but Tiffany stops her fall. In the melee, Cliff slips and tumbles mysteriously down the stairs ending his life in a broken heap at the bottom. The Angels notice that the presence has disappeared and assume that the spirit of Madeline is avenged and at peace now.
