Robert Smith Fast Facts:
  • Attended the famed 1970 Isle of Wight Festival at age 11 with his brother.
  • Formed a band called the Easy Cure in 1976, which later became the Cure.
  • Filled in as a guitarist for Siouxsie and the Banshees when the group's guitarist quit in the middle of a tour in 1979 and again in 1983 when another guitarist fell ill.
  • Favorite songs of the 1980s include ABC's "Look of Love," Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain," Chaka Khan's "I Feel for You" and Soft Cell's "Tainted Love." 
  • Considers "Just Like Heaven" to be the best song the Cure ever recorded.
  • Lent his voice to a 1998 episode of South Park in which he and Barbra Streisand do battle.
  • Was honored (as a part of the Cure) with the 2009 Godlike Genius Award at the Shockwaves NME Awards.
