Young Jim Hawkins is awakened in the middle of the night by a mysterious stranger with a sea chest and soon finds more strange visitors to his small ocean side hotel, The Benbow Inn. Jim's adventure of pirates and buried treasure begins when the old sailor, Billy Bones is visited by the blind pirate "Pew", and his comic band of ruffians demanding a treasure map. Joined by his friends Doctor Livesly, Squire Trelawney and Captain Smollett, Jim sets sail on the high seas to seek the buried treasure of the dread pirate, Captain Flint.
